Your guide is an experienced brewery worker who can explain what gives each sake its unique flavor, with a focus on the production processes and how each contributes to the final product.. By the end of the tour, you should have a good idea of what kind of sake you like, and how to find it.
You will enjoy walking through scenic old-town Takayama as you make the rounds of six sake breweries, sampling a variety of different styles. Remember to take it slow. That's a lot of sake!
Adults only, please (20 years old or older).
There is an optional behind-the-scenes tour of the production facilities at one of the breweries (subject to availability).

You may sample the sake made at this historic brewery, and see part of the production facilities.

5.00Absolutely wonderful! Our guide was very well versed in the world of sake and could provide answers to all our questions. The breweries all provided a broad variety of different types of sake and they were all high class in taste. Would do again and recommed to anyone who likes sake and wants to learn more about it!

5.00He gave us a very detailed and easy-to-understand explanation of Takayama's history and geography, the characteristics of Hirase Sake Brewery, and the sake brewing process. We were even shown inside the sake brewery, which gave us a good understanding of the manufacturing process. During the tasting, he also explained the characteristics of each sake, which deepened our understanding even further as we enjoyed the taste. It was a great tour! Thank you very much!

5.00William (Will) was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. He went at a comfortable pace and helped us understand our taste preferences and how to choose/read sake bottles. One of the best Sake tasting tours I've ever done. Great choice if you have couple hours to spare in Takayama.
