What To Expect
Our fully guided sea kayaking tours explore the scenic coastline of Shioya and typically last about 2 hours. Tours run only during calm conditions for your safety and comfort. We use stable double kayaks that are easy to paddle, suitable for all levels including first-timers and elementary school students. We also have two single kayaks, allowing us to accommodate up to 12 adult guests per tour. Life jackets are provided for all, and non-swimmers are welcome. Our certified Kayak Instructors are insured and trained in First Aid, ensuring a professional and secure experience on the water. Launching from Shioya Beach, we paddle along dramatic cliffs and hidden coves, through waters few people ever get to see. We stop at a secluded beach for a swim in crystal-clear water. Along the way, you'll likely encounter sea urchins, starfish, vibrant seaweed, and seabirds soaring above this protected marine environment. More than just sightseeing, this tour is a chance to disconnect, slow down, and experience the raw beauty of Hokkaido’s coastline.

5.00We had a fantastic kayaking experience in Otaru! Max was an outstanding guide who made everything feel easy, safe, and incredibly fun from start to finish. He gave clear instructions that helped us feel comfortable on the water, even when getting in and out of the kayaks, which he made look and feel effortless. One of the highlights was seeing the sea urchins up close in the crystal-clear water. It was such a memorable experience! Beyond the kayaking itself, Max also shared excellent recommendations for local eateries and other places and experiences to enjoy in the area, which made our visit even better.If you're looking for a fun, relaxing, and well-organized kayak tour in Otaru, we highly recommend this one. 5.00great tour! the water was a bit choppy but the guide was careful to make sure we were safe. the water was super clear and beautiful, and we even saw some sea creatures like sea urchin, and starfish. overall recommend!

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed the tranquil experience of gliding along the Otaru coastline in kayaks. Our guide, Max, provided everything we needed, sharing with our small group info about the sea flora and fauna and fielding our many questions about summer and winter in Japan. We appreciated the balance of time kayaking with a lovely break to take a swim.

5.00Max is such a friendly, warm and experienced guide that we had the pleasure of sea kayaking in Otaru, and the waters in Hokkaido are so beautiful, but the summer here is too short, otherwise diving would have been great.
