What To Expect
Australian Coastal & Mountain Tours
We will travel out to Healesville Sanctuary which takes 60 Minutes and spend approximately 90 Minutes to 2 hours.
Healesville Sanctuary
Departing Melbourne we start with a visit to Healesville Sanctuary where you will be treated to an Australian wildlife experience, see Koalas, Kangaroos, Wombats and many more of Australia's wildlife in a beautiful native setting. We then head up and over Mt Donna Buang Summit which provides spectacular views of the Yarra Valley. At the base of the Yarra Ranges we'll explore the unique Californian Redwood Forest. More than 1450 Redwoods were planted here back in the 1930's which now reach high into the sky. Stop for lunch at the Warburton bakery and enjoy a delicious and famous aussie meat pie and a lamington (or anything else that may tickle your fancy). Warburton is a great chance to enjoy a stroll along the Upper Yarra River, where the water and shoreline are pristine. Moving on from Warburton we'll stop in at Saville Hill Estate for some wine and cheese tasting. If you would like to skip the wine tasting & do a Small City Tour instead thats okay as well.

2.00This tour was very disappointing for several reasons. The guide, an older gentleman with white hair, did not introduce himself. We started 45 minutes late because two couples were waiting in the wrong place, and he didn't know how to locate them. There was no explanation about how we would address the time we missed and what might be cut short. We enjoyed the Healesville Sancturary a lot. We spent about an hour an a half there, and perhaps we could have cut it by 15-30 minutes to fit everything in. We were running so late that we were unable to get to lunch at the Warburton Bakery. We stopped at a little shopping center to grab something to go and then enjoyed the incredible view from Mt. Donna Buang. I asked our guide about the treetop walk through the rainforest that was on the itinerary and he said it was over by the left, where there was traffic. We missed it completely. We finished with a nice wine and cheese tasting. I did enjoy seeing the animals and the countryside but the tour could have been so much better with a guide who was more organized and talked to the 10 of us about how to plan the day after starting so late.

5.00Tour guide was absolutely wonderful, we got to do everything on the list that we were supposed to do in a timely manner. Plus the guide even took us to an extra stop that was not included in the tour as an added bonus.
Tour guide stayed with us all the time and pointed out things we would not have noticed or had time to see, he was amazing.
This tour was the best animal sanctuary tour that I have ever been on, and I recommend you to be sure and go on it.Excellent tour with a lifetime local...

5.00Excellent tour with a lifetime local resident as our guide. I felt like we went places that tourists don't usually go, like on a dirt road to a mountain park where I climbed the fire tower, a bakery that had all kinds of meat pies for our lunch, and a spin around the raceway and Olympic park. Healesville Sanctuary has a great selection of animals in close to natural habitat. A full day and the guide was very good about showing us as much as possible and still making it back with plenty of time to get on the ship.

3.00It was a fun day the scenery was beautiful, Melbourne is beautiful. The bus, however, was not comfortable and we could hardly hear anything the bus driver said. That was unfortunate since we spent so much time driving.

3.00Peter, the guide, was a very kind man. He was not very knowledgeable and flustered at the Healesville sanctuary. Always trying to avoid the other tours, doubling back three or four times. Tough with two people on scooters or wheelchairs. No time to shop. I didn't bring enough money for lunch as I was assured it was included. Peter tried later to slip me some reimbursement. He means very well and graciously gave us an extended tour of the city on the way home. Winery visit nice. Lunch choice poor.
