Itsukushima Shrine is a Shinto shrine on the island of Itsukushima, best known for its "floating" torii gate. Simose Art Museum makes the best of its location, with panoramic views of Japan’s Inland Sea and the Setouchi Islands. While the museum offers scheduled exhibitions, it is also a fascinating representation of the work of Shigeru Ban, one of Japan’s most celebrated architects and the man responsible for the design of this remarkable place.
