What To Expect
What better way to start your day than paddling at sunrise towards the cliffs of Ponta da Piedade? Start your day paddling at sunrise towards the spectacular cliffs of Ponta da Piedade. This early SUP tour takes place in the calmest and clearest conditions, before boat traffic begins. We first reach this iconic Algarve landmark, where you will discover its history linked to Portuguese explorers, slave trade routes and the 1755 earthquake and tsunami that shaped this coastline. We have been guiding paddlers here since 2019, ensuring a safe, smooth and well-organised experience for everyone. On the way back, as the light rises higher, we paddle through arches, tunnels and natural rock formations, finishing with a peaceful stop inside the famous Love Cave. Small groups, quality equipment and a professional approach make this tour safe, accessible and unforgettable. YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SWIM AT LEAST 50M!!!

5.00A great experience. The equipment was very good and Gaylord was knowledgeable and a great guide. The coastline is stunning and you go inside multiple caves. Definitely recommended - I did the trip solo and was not a problem.

5.00This tour is THE BEST!! We started our tour at sunrise and witnessed several other tours going out all with about 10-20 people. We had only my family and that’s it! So personal! We were able to access so many caves that we wouldn’t be able to with a big group. Gaylord is a fantastic guide. He knows so much about the history of the area and the caves. He takes a bunch of photos and will email them all at the end of your trip so you can have your memories forever! The scenery is nothing short of STUNNING and the water is the clearest most beautiful shade of turquoise you can imagine. This experience is magical. It was by far the highlight of the trip. Book it!

5.00The sunrise SUP was magical- the best way to see the caves and cliffs of the Algarve. Our Guide, Gaylord, was professional and an amazing paddler with lots of local history and a respect for the ocean. Early morning is much better because there were no boats out, just us and a couple other paddlers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this as the best way to see the grotto’s.

1.00Booked this two days in advance. At 11:45pm the night before a 06:30am meetup I received an email canceling the tour for "weather conditions". I assume the conditions were too good for Sygma Surf as I was lucky to get a place with another tour operator and the conditions were clear, calm and a smooth sup session. So do not book this unreliable crowd if you want to a sunrise paddle board experience. Now still waiting for my refund from Viator.

5.00It’s so great to be back on the paddleboard with such an amazing group. Gaylord was excellent, he took us on a ride to the caves, with full historical commentary! Loved to paddle and learn from the history of the site! He was also super patient with the group, checking in on everyone, helping improve technique and putting always safety first, as it was a windy, wavy morning. He was so kind to wait a little for someone, although he had to be fair to the rest of us who were on time as this person arrived 30min later, when we were ready to hit the water, so she had to miss it. Overall, amazing time! Fully recommend the views, the sun, the water, the guide! Great exercise too!

5.00We loved this experience! The instructor was very knowledgeable and patient. The water was medium, with some dangerous sections but considering all 6 of us had never been paddle boarding, he guided us incredibly well. I personally found it exhilarating, would recommend:)

5.00The views were stunning, this is one of the best ways to explore the beaches of Lagos and grottos from a one of kind viewpoint. Gaylord helped to make us feel comfortable and safe on the water, even as beginners.
