It was a great experience. The service people on board! The videos, mannequins in certain places in the Ship!

Once there it was easy to tour the vessels. Very informative and interesting. The videos brought the history of the ship and submarine to life

This is a great way to spend a few hours. You don’t realize the size of the ship until you actually get to walk around inside. Unfortunately the ladders down to the lower levels were a bit steep for me, I have bad feet, so I didn’t go down inside the ship, but I got to see plenty up top. The submarine was available to walk through and again I chose not to do the ladder but my hubby did and took great pictures for me. He said inside the submarine was a bit tight and you had to duck through all the doorways. Outside there were a number of planes and military vehicles to explore. Parking is $5 for cars and trucks and $30 for oversized vehicles. There is a discount for AAA, seniors, military and veterans.

Good self guided tour. Restless 11 year old went to fast for the old grandparents. Needed a slow down. Will do it again without the youngster to chase someday. Requires a lot of climbing and stairs.

Do not book with trip advisor bc you still have to do the line & have your e-tickets verified. It does not really save you any time or money.

very interesting and well organized exhibit of a South Dakota class battleship and Gato class submarine that saw action in World War II. Took us three hours; two on the battleship and one in the sub and hanger. Self guided tours allow you to fully explore and see the “city at sea” experience. I’m amazed to think 2500 people on this ship during peace time, never mind during war time and all the logistics of rations etc. On the Drum you are reminded that during war time they needed to be extremely quiet or be found and bombed. You can walk around outside and see some planes too. We didn’t we were hungry and the for lunch at R&R seafood which we highly recommend them too.

Would have given this 5 stars, however the restaurant wasn’t open as there was no staff. We had to go elsewhere and then come back. Also the gift shop closed early and they asked my 81 year old father to leave, as he had been waiting on us. Luckily we had given him the car keys. He couldn’t manage all the walking and the heat. Otherwise our visit was excellent - wear good sturdy tennis shoes or walking shoes, bring a water bottle, and lots of energy. The submarine and the battleship were fascinating with lots of historical information and maps. Loved how they had color coded the tours. Need at least 3 hours.

We took our 3.5 year old, he had a blast! There are lots of stairs, but he says those were his favorite part. Lots to see, I recommend 1/2 to a full day. Bring your AAA card for a discount. Kids under 5 are free. Bathrooms in the aviation hanger, gift shop and on the battleship. We did not make it over to do the submarine, but that’s included in your ticket. On hot days I recommend bringing a water bottle. Parts of the ship are not cooled.

I was initially unsure about the stop, but would highly recommend it. It was eye opening to see what our military endured during WWII. It is worth the time and money.
