St Peter’s Basilica & Sistine Chapel are subject to last-minute closures for religious ceremonies. When this occurs, we're happy to offer customers an extended tour of the Vatican Museums. While we endeavour to tell tour groups ahead of time if there are any planned disruptions to the Basilica's opening hours, this is not always possible and in these cases we are unable to provide refunds or discounts.
On Wednesdays, due to the Papal Audiences, access to St Peter's Basilica is not possible in the morning.
St Peter's Basilica is not accessible on the express tours options

5.00An excellent tour hosted by the ever enthusiastic Ettore. We toured some of the huge Vatican Museum (really needs a full day on its own to best appreciate) before visiting the Sistine Chapel. The chapel itself is amazing, but if you don't like crowds pressing in around you then this may not be for you. Ettore had prepared us as to what to look out for but even so it was too little time to really appreciate everything (guided tours are limited to 5 minutes inside the chapel by the Vatican, so no fault of Ettore). We were then lead through to St. Peter's Basilica, which was also wonderful. Here we had more time for Ettore to show us multiple "curiosities". When the tour ended we were allowed to stay in the basilica to wonder around in our own time. Having seen the queues to enter "normally" I'm so glad we booked the tour as it saved so much time and hassle. Next time I'll book a visit to the museum separately and spend more time there as the was so much to see. Well done Ettore, you were an excellent guide 👌.

4.00The Vatican museum(s) are extensive and interesting. There is a large amount of walking without places to sit/rest, The Sistine Chapel is gorgeous, and St. Peter’s basilica is a bucket list site even for Protestants. Our guide was quite energetic, personable, and quite a resource.

5.00Elisa was the most wonderful guide on our Vatican tour today - so passionate, knowledgeable and friendly! The group size was perfect, and the earpieces with speakers connected to her microphone made it easy to hear all of her information, even in the huge crowd! The skip the line pass was definitely a plus - that line for entry moved so quickly, compared to the standard entry! We loved every minute of learning about the history, and seeing all of the amazing Roman artifacts and architecture! Highly recommend!
