Iceland is the only place on earth where it is possible to combine these fantastic tours; a hike to a live volcanic eruption and an evening aurora hunting tour.
Your day starts in the late morning by joining our tour to eruption site at Meradalir. This involves a 1.5-2 hour hike each way over uneven terrain and would be considered of moderate difficulty to the average, reasonably fit person.
Enjoy the spectacle as thousands of cubic meters of piping hot magma erupts from the volcanoes core.
After you time at the volcano, you will be dropped back to the city where you will have time for dinner and to freshen up before your evening northern lights hunting tour. Our guides, having consulted the aurora forecast of the Icelandic Met Office, will take you to the area most likely to be free of cloud cover and hope to see the aurora´s shimmering light show. We will take you to 2 or 3 locations hoping for the best display.
This Northern Lights tour is usually around 4 hours in duration.

This review is for the Westman islands volcano and world largest puffin colony tour. Our guide Vjeran Misurac was fantastic. I have been on many tours and this was one of the best. He was very knowledgeable and helpful answering questions. The tour was great and we saw some interesting things.

On a very wonderful day, the tour guide Ottor almost kept introducing knowledge points on the road. He explained the driver and the guide part-time, which was very professional and experienced. Friendly and enthusiastic. He took us on an unusual volcanic hiking route. The scenery was very beautiful. I felt it when I walked on the black magma land. Although the route was challenging, it added more fun. All this is possible because of Ottor, the best guide I have ever met in Iceland. He is like an old friend. Thank you! If Ottar is your guide, you have a really nice day.

A wonderful tour with an amazing hike to the newest volcano in Iceland. Vjeran, our guide, was awesome and gave us all the time we wanted to explore and see the sights. Definitely recommend this when visiting

I received a message the day before that my tour had been changed due to scheduling. This was listed as an upgrade to a full day, 10 hour volcano and sightseeing tour starting 2.5 hours earlier than originally booked. It seemed to me that this would replace the entire booking. Because of this, I booked a separate northern lights tour to supplement what was to be missed with the new agenda that was emailed to me. I received no other communication regarding the northern lights portion of my original booking until getting a call and email that my guide was looking for me and would be leaving in 2 minutes. Moving forward, any communication regarding modifications of the original booking should also summarize what is NOT being changed. That would’ve saved me about $120. Otherwise, the volcano hike and sightseeing tour were excellent. It is unfortunate that my memory of this tour will be how I had to pay twice for the northern lights due to poor communication from the tour company.

Went on a tour on Nov 29, I wish I could remember who my tour guide and bus driver were (maybe Hindrik?) as they were amazing and knew so much stories about Iceland. The stories were so engaging and funny. While the volcano hike was a little strenuous, our guide made sure to check on us! Seeing the erupting volcano from afar was a story I tell everyone!

Omar was our tour guide and he was amazing. Very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and a great photographer. The hike itself was beautiful but I wouldn’t say it was easy. Pretty steep so keep that in mind. The sites were amazing and it was very cool to see the lava.

This tour got changed to a different hike and the hot river and it was amazing. The guide we had was so friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. I can't remember his name but if we went back, I would love to request him again. Highly recommend!

This was an incredible hike, the topography and geological aftermath of the 2021,2022 and 2023 eruptions were breathtaking and other worldly. It was a challenging 10 kilometer hike, led by Dave and Ignacio , but worth it for the views, it took our group a solid 4 hours round trip including about an hour of viewing stops and according to our guides , we were going at a relatively fast clip,.. Be advised there is no rest stop after the hike ( we did about 2 hours of sightseeing and driving afterwards) so avail yourself of the portapotties before leaving the site, and bring enough water and food for the day as there is no place visited for either. Kudos to our masterful bus driver Artur on some really narrow roads! We retuned back to Reykjavik for a meal and rest before being picked up by our Aurora lights tour led by Victoria and driven masterfully by Halli. It was a beautiful, clear night but alas the Northern lights eluded us. Nonetheless, Vicki told tales of Icelandic folklore and sang songs of childhood ( she has an incredible voice!!), gave us hot chocolate and her energy really made it a very worthwhile event. The stars at night in Iceland are bright and plentiful with many wishes on shooting stars made. Glad we tried! All in all, an wonderful and memorable day!

Best experience I have had in Iceland. The tour guide was amazing and informative. I do wish I got a pickup up time for the northern lights. I missed the bus for that, but it was an overall great experience

Walking around the Meradalir volcano was an enjoyable experience. I really liked seeing the new lava fields and using them to warm back up (they're still so warm!) as the day itself was very cold and windy. However, our guide was not that concerned about keeping the group together and as a consequence two people from our tour wandered off and we had to wait on the bus for over an hour before they could be found. There's also no toilet facilities near the volcano so that meant another hour before we made it to a toilet stop. Our guide for the Northern lights tour was the master of managing expectations. We didn't see the lights and didn't have time to rebook for another night so alas maybe our next trip to Iceland will be more fruitful. The hot chocolate and fire pit were very much appreciated though.
