Tohora Bora Bora is the pioneer of whale watching tours in Bora Bora. Simon shares his passion for respect for animals and quality of experience.
Whales live in freedom: their sighting is unpredictable. The “launch” option does not guarantee swimming. Where possible, it may require swimming more than 100 m in the open sea. Good physical condition and excellent ease in the water are essential.
The excursion lasts 3h30 in the ocean, where conditions can be rough. Launches depend exclusively on whale behaviour and sea conditions. The safety and respect of this protected species remains our priority. People who do not wish to go into the water will fully enjoy the sighting from the boat.
It is precisely this authenticity that makes each encounter exceptional.

What To Expect
Tohora Bora Bora was the first company of Bora Bora to take an interest and to make a wide audience With over 15 years of experience in the approach and observation of these marine mammals, Simon will be happy to share this passion with the greatest respect for the animal. Enthusiast (s) by humpback whales, come and share some unforgettable moments to meet these giant of the ocean. The boat is equipped with a directional hydrophone offering exceptional sound quality for listening to their majestic songs. The humpback whales season runs from where they come to give birth and to reproduce. This tour is led by a guide and captain.

5.00It was the PERFECT weather for the day but sadly no whales :( However, Simon is great! I read some of the reviews and disagreee, he was a pleasure and friendly and funny in our opinion! On time to pick us up and tried to find us whales just didn’t work out that day what can ya do. Definitely worth a try and will go again with him if we come back to try again!!

5.00We took part in two excursions with Simon, whale watching and around the lagoon. We saw manta and leopard rays, turtles and even dolphins! We were able to listen to whales on board the boat and then swim with one of them. The boat is comfortable and we were able to do these activities in small group. They also offer a refreshing snack. Simon and Tepura were great guides!

5.00This was my second private whale watching tour with Tohora Bora Bora. The first in July 2021, and the second in October 2025. Each time I enjoyed chatting with Simon and his crew and we saw whales on both trips. While I was only able to swim with whales the first time, even the second trip was a lot of fun just being out there on the ocean. Simon tried very hard to find some whales that were not moving so that we could be in the water with them, but this last time it wasn't possible. Nature does not always cooperate. But, that is ok. I would highly recommend. I will be returning again.

5.00Simon is a man who knows his job and he is a real enthusiast! He wants to show you the whales but respecting nature and it is priceless! He called several boats to tell them to change course because the whales were present! Just bravo!! Go there with your eyes closed it will make you discover very beautiful things while respecting nature and animals! Thank you so much!!!

1.00Simon is highly professional and has strict requirements for tourists' swimming skills and maintaining quiet in the water. It is advisable for participants to assess their swimming abilities in advance. On that day, out of six tourists, only two successfully entered the sea for whale watching. We noticed that two other boats nearby imposed no requirements on swimming posture or the use of swim rings. Simon promised on the boat to share the underwater video with those who did not enter the water. However, when we contacted the staff to request the video, they repeatedly asked us to leave a positive review first and mentioned that we would have to wait until Simon was available (probably two months later after high season). They also implied that they were not obligated to provide the video and mentioned that a whale-watching video in Moorea costs $600. Overall, the experience and attitude toward those of us who did not enter the water were highly disappointing. We do not recommend this tour. This is the only tour we did not recommend among all the ones we participated in Bora Bora.

5.00An unforgettable experience. Swimming with whales while preserving their privacy. All this thanks to our supplier Tohora bora bora. Small group of 6 people. Our captain knew his work perfectly, which makes it almost certain to see whales. This was our case and icing on the cake we saw dolphins. I highly recommend this provider.

5.00It was a fantastic experience really. Simon is really smart and you can see that the work he does is mostly out of passion and love for whales. Respect and love first and foremost. He also helped me when I was in more difficulty on the open sea (I must say I was a bit scared), but thanks to his help we managed to swim with 2 whales and see a shark. Experience absolutely recommended to everyone!
