What To Expect
White Pockets
Located far away from the beaten path. Located near the famous Wave. Unlike The Wave, White Pocket doesn't require a permit. White Pocket, a group of domes and ridges covering an area of one square mile, below a larger mesa lined by similar rocks. A pocket, in this sense, refers to a relatively small area of land markedly different to its surroundings, which here, like most of the plateau, are sandy plains sparsely covered by bushes and small trees. White, or light grey is the dominant rock color, in contrast to the red of the Coyote Buttes, but the general features are similar - swirling, thin-layered strata, adjacent layers of contrasting color, and curious erosive features. Other colorful pockets are found further south and east on the plateau, some also with an official name but most unrecognized. There are several dozen locations, all with the potential to have photogenic formations.

5.00I recently took the White Pocket Adventure tour, and it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our guide, Clayton, was outstanding from start to finish. The drive to White Pocket involves extremely rough roads, but Clayton expertly navigated the terrain, making the journey as smooth as possible. Safety was clearly a priority for him, and he was very cautious throughout the trip. He also made sure everyone was comfortable by providing several opportunities for restroom breaks along the way. When we finally arrived, it honestly felt like stepping onto another planet. The landscape is unlike anything I've ever seen—the beauty is absolutely out of this world. Clayton offered to take photos for us and came up with some really creative and fun picture ideas. He even helped film a family TikTok video and was completely supportive of all our shenanigans! He was also very flexible, allowing our group to go as far as everyone felt comfortable while still encouraging us to see all the must-visit spots. His patience and understanding were especially appreciated by some members of our group who were a little more nervous than others. If you have the opportunity to do this tour, I highly recommend doing it. It's an unforgettable experience.
This tour is WELL worth the time and money! You will not regret going!

5.00We drove Limo style along a 4x4 road to White Pocket heaven. What a beautiful rare ‘freak mystery’ of nature. Breathtaking. Ken lead us through this treasure pointing out details about the area and guiding us to capture the best pictures. Ken ensured we were careful to preserve and not damage this treasure.

5.00Fabulous!! This area is magnificent, you feel like you are on Mars! Our guide, Ken was so knowledgeable, friendly, and outgoing! So worth the effort to get to White Pocket. Only problem is that It takes 2 hours to get to experience, roads are sandy and rocky.

He knew the perfect spots for photo opportunities and was nice enough to take photos for me and the others in the group. I would highly recommend doing a tour with him. I’ll definitely book another tour next time I visit Kanab.
