The Kicking Horse trip includes all of the biggest & best rapids on the river. This unforgettable journey begins calmly, where you get familiar with rafting and find out fun facts about the river as you take in the views of the scenic upper section. Then, it’s onto the mighty rapids the Kicking Horse is famous for! As the canyon narrows, the waves build, drenching rafters in continuous class 4 rapids. We provide all the necessary rafting equipment, including wetsuits, shoes, helmet and life jackets and we have lots of warm gear so you will always be warm and comfortable.

What To Expect
Your 20 km journey on the mighty Kicking Horse River has it all- spectacular scenery and thrilling white water. At Hydra we always raft our guests down both sections of the river, making this trip perfect for first-time and experienced rafters alike. We start in the calmer and scenic class one and then hit the adrenaline pumping class fours. The mild river section allows our guests time to familiarize themselves with the raft, paddling and guide’s commands (and go for a refreshing dip in the river) before hitting the famous and exhilarating bigger rapids. The Hydra difference - we have some off the most experienced (and entertaining) guides on the river and our beautiful rafting base (with hot showers and snacks for purchase) is located right next to the river. So, more time on the river and less time sitting in a bus. This is the best trip on the river. Hands down.

5.00Ricky was our guide. She did a great job teaching us the fundamentals of rafting. Everybody was laughing while being challenged. At the end, the whole boar went for a swim in the freezing water. It was fun. Thanks for the wonderful memory you helped to create.

5.00This is a fabulous activity on the Kicking Horse River. All the guides are amazing and so experienced. Our guide was Dean who is exceptional. He encouraged us, reassured us and expertly guided us down a very fast flowing river. He was so enthusiastic and clearly loves what he does as well as knowing the rapids and river like the back of his hands! Just do it, well worth it!

5.00What a fantastic experience from start to finish. I was a bit nervous at the thought of level 4 rapids (have only done 2-3 before) but after a safety briefing by Dave & the constant reassurance of Fabian, our guide, any fears I had were quickly eliminated! The people we were teamed up with were all great fun which added to the whole experience! Fabian was absolutely brilliant, full of fun but we also knew that his number one priority was our safety. I could not recommend Hydra River Guides highly enough, all I say is get them booked & go forwards it, you won’t regret it!

5.00My wife and I tried white water rafting a week earlier and enjoyed it so much we wanted to have another go, this time with slightly higher category rapids. I am 67 yrs old although my wife is a few years younger and we both found this trip even more enjoyable than our first. Our guide Fabion was brilliant and Everything Hydra River Guides provided was perfect. Can’t rate this high enough and would definitely recommend it to anyone willing to give it a go

5.00What an absolute blast! Our guide was Fabien (Fay-be-ENN), a lovely Chilean who very obviously loves his job and does this around the world. He was funny, informative and absolutely kept us all going. I've done this before, years ago, but it still kicks butt! I'm doing it again next year, and probably every year until I die. If you get a chance to actually look at the scenery, lol, it's soooo worth it.

5.00It was awesome to drive right to the put in location and not have to take a shuttle or a bus. The rapids were super fun and the line tied down the middle of the raft made us all feel secure. Our guide BILL was amazing - super energetic and knowledgeable and made us all feel safe. Highly recommend and it was my teen kids' favorite activity of the trip!
