Arromanches-les-Bains
INCLUDED IN OPTIONS: 2-HOUR BRITISH SECTOR – HALF DAY – FULL DAY Your driver will take you to Arromanches-les-Bains. It was on this beach that, during the Battle of Normandy, immediately after D-Day on June 6th, 1944, the Allies established Mulberry B, a temporary artificial harbor designed to allow the landing of heavy equipment without having to wait for the capture of deep-water ports such as Le Havre or Cherbourg (Cherbourg-en-Cotentin since 2016). Although located in the center of the Gold Beach landing zone, Arromanches was spared the worst of the fighting on D-Day. To enable the rapid installation and proper functioning of the harbor, it was essential not to damage the beach and to preserve the surrounding communication routes. British troops therefore landed farther east, between Asnelles and Ver-sur-Mer, and liberated Arromanches by land on the evening of June 6th. The harbor was put into service on June 14th.

This was a really fun way to see the British sector of the DDay beaches and the Normandy countryside. Our guide John was also very knowledgeable and passionate about WW2 history so I learned a lot and he shared reading recommendations. Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommend this experience even with small children! We did it with 3 kids aged between 5 and 10 and they thoroughly enjoyed it as much as we did. Our guides were super accomodating for the kids and made sure they wearing sunscreen, were hydrated and felt comfortable on the drive. This is the only way you would want to do the D-Day tour. Each stop was accompanied by a detailed explanation and our guides took some lovely family photos (and a selfie 🤳🏽)

We had a fantastic half-day with John! Being a group of 2, we were able to get to/depart from all the sites quicker than any large group. Also had access to a few places the big tour groups could not access. Riding a motorcycle in the countryside was a very neat experience. And John was very knowledgeable, very kind, and let us choose where to go! The perfect trip!!

This tour was informative and relaxing for us. My husband always enjoys learning more about WW2 history. Remy, our guide told him things he did not know about. This tour has been our favorite thing we have done on our trip.

Had a great retro-style tour of British landing beaches. Our guide Remi was great: smart and safe. Goggles, helmet, bomber jacket, wind in the hair.

Very pleasant visit, superbly commented by our motorcycle guide. My grandson will keep a very good memory of it. Ready to go to other sites.

My friend and I did the 3 hour tour with John who was very knowledgeable and funny and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience with him. He took us to some off the beaten path spots (WN 60) as well as Longues-sur-Mer Battery, Royal Marine commando monument, Omaha beach, and the American cemetery. Our only regret was not doing the 6 hr tour instead !! My friend was the one interested in WW2 facts and he got exactly what he was hoping for - in depth descriptions and facts about D-Day. If you just want a tour of the sights and to wander around, this is not the tour for you. It was very personal and focused. If there are two of you and one person is less interested in all the nitty-gritty facts, it works out pretty well as you can wander while the other person gets the in-depth history lesson. Also, riding on the back of the bike was a blast! Absolutely 20/10 would do this again. Thanks John!!

Remi was an INCREDIBLE tour guide and he made our experience so amazing! Riding in the motorcycle was awesome and I wish we would have booked a longer tour with him! Highly recommend and it is a tour that we will never forget! ♥️

Remy and John were amazing guides. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would! We had the best day ever riding on the bikes with them and learning all of the history. It rained on us halfway through the trip, but somehow that just made the adventure even more enjoyable. I cannot say enough good things about this tour or about John and Remy. If you are visiting Normandy, this is MUST DO!
