The Alamo
The Alamo, originally the 18th-century Spanish mission Mission San Antonio de Valero, is a premier Texas historic site located in San Antonio. It is famous for the 13-day 1836 Battle of the Alamo, where nearly 200 Texan defenders—including Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie—were defeated by Mexican forces, becoming a lasting symbol of courage and independence
San Antonio River Walk
The San Antonio River Walk (Paseo del Rio) began as a flood-control project following a devastating 1921 flood, evolving into a iconic urban park designed by architect Robert H.H. I didn’t know what to expect when my Dad had me book this tour but I am glad we did. The gentlemen were very kind and generous. Very knowledgeable. This is a perfect tour for any history buff! I learned stuff I never knew about the Alamo before. Also they took us around different areas and talked to us about the history behind it. I didn’t take many pictures because I was focused on listening but seeing older buildings along the way was so much fun!

If you are interested in learning about the entire history of the San Antonio area from the time the Spanish explorers and missionaries named it in 1691 until the present, this is the tour for you. We were fortunate to have been the only people on the tour the day we went and to have had two great historians for tour guides. Tom had not only retired from working for the National Park Service at the Alamo, but was also an archaeologist. Dan was an expert on the more recent history of the area. Either one of them could give a great tour on their own. We had picked up bits and pieces about the area and some of its history from having visited the Alamo and taken the cruise on the river the day before, but this tour put it all in chronological and historical perspective. This tour is very reasonably priced and customizable to your needs by allowing you to choose a 1, 2, or 3 hour tour. We did the 3 hours and were very glad we did because of the number of places we were able to see beyond just the Alamo and the Riverwalk. You may not get the private tour we enjoyed, but the maximum number of people is 13 so it will always allow for a more personalized experience with time for individual questions.

Our guide, Tom, was truly exceptional! A historian with an incredible depth of knowledge. He didn’t just give surface-level information; he answered every single question we had with detailed, thoughtful explanations that made the history feel alive and meaningful. You can tell he’s genuinely passionate about what he does, and it made a huge difference in the overall experience. The sights themselves were fascinating and full of character, offering a great mix of history, culture, and local charm. Every stop felt interesting and worthwhile, and we never felt rushed. This tour was honestly the perfect way to explore San Antonio. It gave us a comprehensive look at the city while still allowing time to take everything in. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an engaging, informative, and enjoyable experience!

Our family took a trip to San Antonio for our daughter’s spring break, and one thing we were looking forward to the most was learning the history of the area. We booked a private tour, with Tom as our guide, and had an amazing time! Not only was he knowledgeable, and passionate about San Antonio’s great history; but he constantly joked with our daughter to keep her engaged with the history that is not taught in our schools up north. We had to make a few detours due to Fiesta Week, and we trusted him wholeheartedly to make those decisions, and provide us with the best possible experience. If you are looking to take a walk through history, and have some amusing anecdotes along the way, Tom is your guy! Thank you for making our trip as memorable as possible!
