A great option to have a shore excursion for a short time, not so far from the port, with a deep introduction to the most important economical activity in Guatemala sugar cane production. Beautiful landscape and countryside sourranded with volcanos. The mayan town "La Democracia" just one hour driving from cruise terminal holds the best collection of huge carved stones from preclassic period that are call the Guardians of time. • Nonsensical waste of money

A listless, uninformative and uninformed guide who was surprised that the museum was closed and thus showed us 12 stones, without any historical information about it. This excursion is not recommended!!!

  • Nice small town with Mayan sculptured rocks in small town square

Our guide Nelson was low key, knowledgeable and very pleasant. Ride had some nice features like sugar cane fields, volcanoes, banana plantations but was 1 hour and 45 minutes, not 1 hour as stated in description. The Mayan sculptures are impressive and the small museum was informative. The small town was genuine and gave a sense of how people live here. A stop for lunch at a beach restaurant proved to take way too long so we recommend against it.

  • We saw it all! For a GREAT price!

Santiago was our driver/guide, and he was AMAZING!!! He gave us great history and background, showed us all around, and did an excellent job of skipping traffic and getting us back to the ship with plenty of time to shop at the port. Would definitely recommend, as we saw so much more of the countryside and how both locals and Mayans currently live. Thank you Santiago!
