What To Expect
Day 1: Moshi – Umbwe Gate – Umbwe Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
Drive from Moshi to Umbwe Gate for registration before starting the trek through dense rainforest. The trail is steep and scenic, leading to Umbwe Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Umbwe Camp – Barranco Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
Today’s trek climbs through moorland terrain with spectacular views and dramatic landscapes. Arrive at Barranco Camp located beneath the famous Barranco Wall for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Barranco Camp – Barafu Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
After climbing the Barranco Wall, continue through valleys and alpine desert landscapes toward Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. Rest, early dinner, and preparation for the midnight climb.
Day 4: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park
Around midnight, begin the summit ascent to Uhuru Peak. Reach the summit at sunrise and celebrate your achievement at the Roof of Africa. After photos and rest, descend to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
Kilimanjaro National Park
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate where you will receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for relaxation and overnight stay or airport transfer.

5.00I went on a five-day Umbwerut group trek through Kilita Safaris and it was a great experience. The support for the Japanese group was excellent and our guide Steve was professional, kind and encouraging throughout. The tour management, safety management and hospitality were all fantastic. If you're visiting Tanzania, this is an adventure we'd definitely recommend!
