What To Expect
This quiet stone marks a place of fear and fire. Between 1550 and 1700, around 350 people—mostly women—were executed here, accused of witchcraft. Stand here long enough, and it’s not hard to imagine the smoke, the panic, and the deadly power of accusation in Bergen’s past.
Fredriksberg Fort
High above Nordnes, this fortress once guarded Bergen—but it also held prisoners within its walls. In the 18th century, it was used as a place of confinement, where criminals and the condemned were locked away overlooking the city they’d left behind. By night, the quiet stone walls feel far from peaceful—echoing with the presence of those who were once kept here, with no way out.

5.00Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and share many interesting stories. The walk is at a leisure pace and not too challenging. We went into very interesting neighborhoods too. We have been on tours around the world and this rates as one of the best.

5.00Interesting mix of topics ranging from Norse mythology, crime and punishment, and current local activities. We covered a lot of ground, but the pace was easy. Where shoes for walking cobbles and climbing steps. Dane was as well informed and tells great stories. Plus he’s really tall, so easy to follow in a crowd.

5.00We had a wonderful time touring Bergen with Dane. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and personable. We leaned more and saw more than ever would have been possible without him. The focus on crime and mythology gave the tour a fun twist. Visits to charming neighborhoods and recommendations for non- touristy shops and restaurants gave our visit to Bergen an authentic feel. Highly recommend!

5.00This was an absolutely wonderful experience! Our guide, Rigmor, was knowledgeable, excited about sharing and answering all the questions we had, and was delightfully fun....even when I asked her to sing for us at the Troll Museum. We covered a lot of ground but it wasn't too difficult. There were a few steep hills a a lot of cobblestone. If you're considering booking this tour, just do it. You will be grateful you did!

5.00This was so much fun! Our guide had so much knowledge, and made Bergens crime history come alive while taking us through super charming walking tour of small streets and more tourist spots in Bergen. Both me and my partner learned so much and laughed even more - the guide had a great sense of humor. He really charmed us all. The trip was also a great way to see the city and we discovered so many cute streets and fun places during the walk from Nøstet to Bryggen. Our daughter slept trough the walking part of the tour (she is only six months old, but I think she rates the experience of stroller on cobbel stone 10/10), but was awake for the Troll museum. Even tough she was a bit young I think she had fun seeing all the troll figurines and listening to the music.

5.00This walking tour kept our entire family of adults and teens engaged the entire time, despite the rain. Dane is a really skilled story teller and wove together history, myths, culture, and our surroundings into a compelling narrative for our small group. Fun! The restaurant, museum, and book recommendations he provided were also on point. One of our top Bergen experiences for sure!
