This tour happens in the Sagres peninsula and its wonderful landscape. During the autumn, with a nice and experienced guide, it is a great opportunity to witness the migration of birds of prey and small birds. In spring, several species of warblers breed in the area and it is possible to see Little Bustards display.

We had two wonderful days with Guillaume who showed us so many birds. How he spotted some of them I will never know. We were the only people on the tour so had personal attention and had free access to his telescope so we never missed any of his findings! Day one around Sagres showed us various different inland and cliff based habitats, and although we were a bit late for most migrants, Guillaume still found lots for us to see. Blue rock thrush, many sardinian warblers, larks, harriers, peregrine, petrels and even a little owl were amongst the highlights. Day 2 was the full day around Ria Formosa and again just the 2 of us with Guillaume. He knows all the sites and where the birds will be and somehow managed to surpass day one. Started at Quinta do Lago by the golf course lake with little bittern, hoopoe, blackheaded weaver and booted eagle, and then moved on to salt pans and mudflats, showing us so many waders, flamingos, spoonbills and a shrike. After lunch more different habitats to see black winged stilts and somehow finished off with stone curlew and a phalarope! Never made it to Tavira as we had done so much and seen so much we were ready for home. These two days were amazing with an excellent guide. Be prepared to be tired, but it is worth it to see so much. Thank you Guillaume and best wishes for the future. Alan and Liz (PS we did find bluethroat on the boardwalk and waxbills around the hotel!)

It was an amazing day! Gui tailored the day to our interests. We saw many interesting and unusual birds, enjoyed the remarkable scenery, and learned much about the area - its history, bird life and vegetation. He shared his vast knowledge with us, drove us to locations we would never have gotten to on our own, and made it an exceptional experience. And seeing the Bee eater and the Little bustard will always be remembered!

Gia the guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. Not a large variety of birds around due to time of year. Stopped at a variety of habitats in the area. Plenty of time for observation and taking photographs. An enjoyable day and look forward to more trips on my next holiday.

We had such a memorable time here - such a warm welcome from Marcial and Paula and then such expertise all day from Gui👍🏻. Gui was undoubtedly one of the most knowledgeable guides we have had the pleasure of experiencing. We saw many birds highlights being: Orphean Warbler, Bonelli’s Warbler, Short Toed Eagle but the star of the show was Eurasian Eagle Owl.
