  • Catamaran day trip to the Whitsundays

    - Review from Tripadvisor

A memorable day out. It's a day sail on a very large purple catamaran out to Whitehaven beach and on to a fringe reef for snorkelling if that's your thing: It includes all food and drink. The Camira seems to sail whatever the weather so be prepared with any anti-sickness medication and a waterproof and indeed it was cold and rainy when we set off with everyone huddled in the main cabin apart from a brave few. We motor sailed through fairly choppy waters to Whitehaven Beach where you get 2 hours ish before going on to the snorkelling. Luckily the weather cheered up and the chop dropped. Whitehaven beach is spectacular and worth seeing at least once and whilst busy (lots of day boats there), wasn't too crowded apart from the viewpoint. I'm told the snorkelling was enjoyable if a bit crowded in the water with everyone kept concentrated in one spot but everyone enjoyed it with those caveats. Staff were good and mostly attentive and well organised, even if it sometimes felt a bit perfunctory and impersonal as they kept everything to schedule. Food was plentiful and adequate but no more than that, cheese and ham croissants, fruit, barbecued chicken, steak and sausages, cake, tea and coffee, falafael and things for the vegans, beer, wine and cider. Depending on your outlook and expectations, the weather and tides, this could be a 1 star to 5 star day but whatever you give it, it will be a memorable day

Bloody brilliant! Crew were fantastic. Food was delicious. I think it all could have been explained a little better. The snorkeling for older people.. the dinghy was a real turn off for me.. I couldn’t fall off that backwards into the ocean.. the explanation of all that was a bit daunting for me.. I didn’t snorkel today! I was disappointed. The walk up the hill was more than the 15 mins stated.. especially for older folks like me lol.. But once you see that beach… it’s all worthwhile I guess! 😋 We had a great day!! Thank you to all.. Treasured memories 🐟🐠🏝️

Firstly, you will never go hungry during the day. They fed us a yummy morning tea, lovely lunch, snacks and afternoon tea. We had the perfect amount of time snorkelling and at white haven beach. The staff were great. It was just the best day ever! Such a quality experience. Worth every dollar.

My wife and I are what you would call the older generation and were a bit worried about being out there with all the younger crowd. Value for money this trip was just amazing The food that just didn't stop all day and refreshments were just the best that you could wish for. Having been involved with service to the public all my life I am very tough if it is not up to standard. The service on the boat was perfect and everyone contributed. It would be wrong of me not to mention the young ladies. If there is better around I would love to meet them because these ladies could not do enough for my wife and I. Thank you Barry and Gaynor Hedges

The tour does not match the description on GetYourGuide. The limitations due to the tides are clearly mentioned on the provider's website, but NOT there. Watch out! So I paid for a full service but received a reduced one. Very disappointing, the best part of the trip was cancelled.

If there is anywhere more bueatiful than Whitehaven beach I haven't found it. The snorkelling was magnificent. We were looked after by a knowledgeable experienced crew who could not be any better. Excellent food and all drinks were provided

Highlights were snorkelling over beautiful corals with such diverse fish and seeing Whitehaven beach with its incredible colours. The Camira crew looked after as all well, great bbq on board and safety foremost. Would highly recommend!

  • Camira not sailing.

This was a bit of a mixed experience, we are sailors and the reason we booked this trip was that we expected to go sailing. Instead we went motor sailing. To be fair the weather was a bit ordinary 20 -30 knt winds but it is still OK to sail in these conditions with a couple of reefs in, and your not sailing until the motors are off. We also expected to go to Whitehaven Beach instead we went to an adjoining cove and some passengers walked up a steep muddy trail to a look out where they could look out to Whitehaven Beach some kilometers away. What they were on was Betty's Beach, so caused some confusion when the guests were told it was Whitehaven Beach. We were told we went to Whitehaven Beach and when challenge about that, were told that they didn't have a licence to go there. So why advertise you are going there when you can't. I also don't believe the licence story because we found out from others that Camira regularly goes to Whitehaven Beach. Maybe it was the weather but this wasn't offered as an excuse. It couldn't be the weather because Whitehaven Beach was in the lee of the South Easterly that was blowing that day. Apart from that most of the staff and the Captain were very friendly and helpful and it was good to be on a boat going somewhere. We were also told that the Genoa couldn't be deployed because it wwas damaged. If you are running a commercial operartion then fix it. Overall disappointing and a bit insulting to be told mincie pies.

  • Beautiful sailing through some gorgeous landscapes

An amazing day out on the water around the Whitsundays, despite the rough sea conditions. The crew were all amazing, friendly, and loved to interact with all the passengers. Not a lot of sailing was done ( only two stretches at the start and end) but this was somewhat largely down to the weather conditions on the day. Snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef was somewhat crowded with the numbers on the boat, but managed well and was an amazing experience. The walks around the lookouts and onto the pristine Whitehaven beach were incredible, and to top off an amazing day there was non stop food and drink to keep everyone fed and watered throughout the day. A brilliant way to see the Whitsundays in a single day.

The Camira sailing adventure was absolutely wonderful! The whole day was great from start to finish. The crew was friendly, especially the captain and the food was really good. Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef was an amazing experience and Whitehaven Beach was beyond gorgeous!! If you are undecided, just book it! You will not be disappointed!
