Garni temple, one of the most famous historical and architectural monuments among tourists, is located in Kotayk province. It is the only structure preserved in Armenia from the pagan period, dedicated to the god Mihr.

Before reaching the temple, we will have a stop on the way to Charents Arch, from where a wonderful view of Mount Ararat opens.

Then we will visit Geghard Monastery (Ayrivank), where according to the legend, from the XIII century the spear with which Christ was pierced was kept here.

As a part of the tour, we will visit the Azat River gorge, where we will see the “Symphony of Stones՛”, a miracle of nature. The natural monument, also known as the ՛՛Basalt Organ՛՛, is famous for its magnificent, seemingly artificial rocks.

What To Expect

1

Charent's Arch

While passing through the village of Voghjaberd, the architect Rafael Israelyan often noticed that a wonderful view of Mount Ararat opens from the nearby hill. And here, in 1957, Israelyan completed the structure he designed, which is called the Mount Ararat Temple. The last line of Yeghishe Charents's poem is engraved in visible large letters on the front entrance. "Go to the world; there is no white peak like Ararat, like the path of unripe glory; I love my Masis mountain." Very soon the place got its new, popular and more widespread name - The Arch of Charents. We start the tour with the viewpoint of Mount Ararat, the symbol of Armenia.

The Monastery of Geghard

Geghard Monastery is a medieval monastery in the Kotayk province, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. The name commonly used for the monastery today, Geghard, or more fully Geghardavank, meaning “the Monastery of the Spear”, originates from the spear which had wounded Jesus at the Crucifixion. It is believed, that the spear was brought to Armenia by Apostle Jude, called here Thaddeus, and stored amongst many other relics. Now it is displayed in the Echmiadzin treasury. The monastery complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with enhanced protection status.

  • Great experience!

The tour and places were amazing, and Gayane was a super guide. I was the only foreigner and she was leading by herself the tour both in armenian and english language. She never forgot me and she answered to all my question, she was really prepared and I felt lucky to have almost a private guide. I suggest you to book a tour with One Way

  • Lovely scenery, uncomfortable tour

The views were beautiful, but unfortunately the tour itself was disappointing. The minibus was very uncomfortable. The first row was fine, but getting in and out of the back rows meant squeezing through a narrow space and bending down every time. If you're tall, it won't be pleasant. The lavash master class was underwhelming. Several tour groups were combined, making it overcrowded. Most people couldn't even see the demonstration. The restaurant also raised concerns. There was construction work directly above the kitchen, which didn't seem very hygienic. The food was good, but the conditions could have been much better. The places are absolutely worth visiting, but I'd recommend skipping the guided tour. We were rushed at every stop with very little time to explore or take photos, and most of the information can easily be found online.

Today we went on a tour and were very pleased with the experience. We really liked the way the tourist company communicated and organized everything: it was clear, well-arranged and professional. We would also like to especially mention our driver, Levon. He is a careful and professional driver, as well as a very pleasant and interesting person. During the trip, he told us many interesting things about Armenia, its history, culture and everyday life. The tour was comfortable, relaxed and left us with very pleasant impressions. Thank you for the excellent organization and attentive attitude.

Excellent meeting place in front of the Conservatory. You see the minibuses lined up when you arrive, so you know you're in the right place. Really friendly guide, Jasmine, excellent English, very knowledgeable and approachable. Interesting explanations at each stop and free time to wander/take photos. Lunch was well organized. Order before you visit the site. Return for the bread/lavash experience then eat lunch - less time wasting! Great trip. Oh and the driver was excellent too!

  • Very informative and well...

  • Pretty good, not great

The positives: -The excursion was well thought out. We had plenty if time in every location. -The purchasing of tickets was very smooth as our guide collected the money on the ride and purchased the rickets while we remained on the bus. -Our guide was knowledgeable and explained everything well. She had a pleasant demeanor and was friendly. -Our driver was great. - The lavash class was fun and delicious. Negatives: - The seats are very cramped. -The AC Iwas not working most of the time and it was extremely hot. Also, apparently the cabin of the bus does not have AC (???) so what little time the AC for the back did work , it was canceled by the front passengers having their windows open. I am prone to motion sickness and had taken Dramamine, but the intense heat made me very ill.
