Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area. Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot's target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities. Admission Fee: ¥200

We had a great time on our tour of Hiroshima with our guide Hiroshi, he was very knowledgeable and generous, and gave us a personal and extensive tour of the peace memorial and of Miyajima Island. We would highly recommend this tour!

We had Sei as our private tour guide for the day. He was fabulous. He was very engaging and always ensured that we were with him. He gathered us in many times and provided a brief history or overview of what we were looking at/experiencing. Sei was very knowledgeable and provided very interesting facts. I would highly recommend this tour and Sei as your tour guide.

This was a very informative tour, including both the WW2 and wider history of Hiroshima. Our highlight was our guide Hiroshi, who showed us his family home on Miyajima as well as many other sights on the island. He was very fun, informative, and friendly. 10/10, would recommend.

Me and my family have had a fantastic day touring Hiroshima and Miyajima with Hiroshi-San. We started at the Hiroshima Memorial Park and Museum which was a profound and important reminder on the importance of peace and non-proliferation. We then went to Miyajima for lunch and visited some shrines and temples. Hiroshi-San was a fantastic guide. He was friendly, easy to talk to, informative and made the experience a fantastic day for us. He met us at our hotel in the morning which made it particularly easy to meet him. I would absolutely recommend this tour with Hiroshi-San!

This for me was the highlight of our two week trip to Japan. Both incredibly moving and beautiful. Our guide, Hiroshi-san, looked after us incredibly well and was very informative. He took us to places that I’m sure are not seen by many people other than locals. I would highly recommend him.

We had a great day touring with Yuki. She was fun, knowledgeable (and not embarrassed to admit the things she did not know), accommodated for our eccentricities and lovely. We shared meals and sweets, toured Miyajima Island and the Hiroshima memorial, and ended exhausted and filled. Very recommended

We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima with our tour guide, Aki! She was patient with us, gave us lots of history and information and she was lovely to spend the day with. The tour gave us plenty of time to walk the Hiroshima memorial and spend time in the museum without being rushed. She arranged ferry tickets for us to explore Miyajima and she walked the island with us, showing us all the highlights we were interested in. Aki was knowledgeable, her English was great and she was a delight. At the end of the day, she gave my 8 year old a small gift and my older daughter a small gift since it was her birthday-so thoughtful! The tour is well worth the money and experience! Highly recommend!

My family and I were staying in Kyoto, but were interested in doing a day trip to Hiroshima. We purchased a day trip tour via Viator and within a few days were contacted by our tour guide “To.” Once To knew our logistics around us arriving from Kyoto via shinkansen in the morning and leaving by 6pm in the evening he was able to build a full itinerary broken down by hour/activity and how much JPY we would need to have on hand for each site/bus/train which he shared ahead of time. Our day started with To meeting us on the shinkansen platform when our train arrived which made it easy to find him and then he spent 10 minutes walking us through the detailed itinerary and how the day's events would go. We immediately took a train to the pier for a ferry to Miyajima and once we arrived on Miyajima he walked us through all the key areas (shrine, gate, navigating the hungry deer, temple, and shopping areas) and provided a lot of historical background and fun facts to our family. We also appreciated the fact that he pre-ordered our delicious okonomiyaki lunch ahead of time (took our order a few days prior) so when we arrived at the busy restaurant we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive. Our tour also included a trip to the beautiful Shukkeien Garden (where he had pre-bought some fish food for the kids to feed the fish) and the Peace Memorial Museum (where he also had prepared a few folded cranes for our family as well.). To was able to guide us through both with a lot of interesting facts along the way. We also appreciated To’s patience with us (especially our kids and all of our questions and frequent stops at 7-11.) He was very kind, funny, organized, and we truly enjoyed our time with him. We would highly recommend his services again!

It’s a nice experience off the Diamond Princess cruise. The morning was solemn visiting the museum and the hypocenter. The afternoon at Miyajima was relaxing. The okonomiyaki was delicious. The tour guide was knowledgeable but left us at the high speed boat station at the end of the trip. It would have been nice to be escorted back to the cruise… as the route back was not entirely obvious.

Mari was a fantastic guide !!! I hope you get her when you book this tour!!! She is charming and quite knowledgeable . We had some poignant moments at the peace park and such interesting insights into the Japanese culture and history. She knows the ins and outs taking us a bit off the beaten track as requested. And we had a great lunch !!!! The traditional Japanese layered pancake whose name I cannot spell. I look forward some day to returning and meeting up again with dear Mari!
