What To Expect
Mutianyu Great Wall
Hotel pick-up at your downtown hotel lobby. We will then drive directly to the Mutianyu Great Wall, famous for its stunning natural scenery—lush forests and vibrant landscapes that transform beautifully with each season. Located in Huairou District, northeast of Beijing, this section is approximately 75 kilometers from the city center. As one of the best‑preserved and most picturesque sections of the Great Wall, Mutianyu historically served as a vital northern defensive barrier protecting the capital. You may take the cable car up to the wall. You can choose to hike along the wall to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, or take the cable car down or Chairlift up and toboggan ride for a fun and memorable descent. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

5.00Our trip to the Great Wall was wonderful, thanks to our guide Wendy and driver Mr. Sun. Highly recommended for any family traveling with young children. Everything was very comfortable and stress free. We learned a bit of history, and above all, Wendy went out of her way to ensure we had an enjoyable time. She tailored the trip to our needs, saved us time waiting in lines, knew the best photo spots, and was great at engaging with our 7 year-old son. Overall, it was a memorable and easy day for our family.

5.00The truth is that the experience has been perfect from start to finish. The day before our visit to the Wall, our fantastic guide, Maggie, contacted us to make sure we were clear about the meeting point and remind us of the essentials we had to bring. Once on the bus, Maggie has explained to us in detail how everything was going to happen in addition to telling us a story about the Wall and the rest of Beijing. In visits like this it is easy for people to get lost (and even more so in a group of 15 people like ours) and that you are not clear where you have to go at all times, but Maggie controlled everything (and everyone hahaha) perfectly. Of course it is a guide that I recommend and with which I would repeat if I visited any other part of the city.

5.00Visiting the Great Wall has been a bucket list item of mine for many years. I was very fortunate to have booked with Lily's Tour company and to have gotten Maggie as the tour guide. She is very passionate about her job and shared a wealth of history knowledge. The tour of the wall itself was phenomenal and humbling, and the toboggan ride down was/is a must do! I highly recommend!!
