The many standing stops might become tiring for back sufferers or pregnant ladies: we recommend you bring a foldable stool. We will also use public benches wherever possible.

History of Bayeux

5.00We took this tour on our 4th day in Bayeux. So we had seen the city but not understood the historical significance of the city. Christele changed that for us. She is a charming and knowledgeable guide. Not only was she great at the history but she provided insights through the eyes of an art historian. She took us through history from the Middle Ages to today inside the very small area of Bayeux. Because of the rain we opted not venture out to the British cemetery but she described why that area is of importance to the people here (the liberation and De Gaulle). It's good to know how the future is molded by the past. Unfortunately the Tapestry museum had just closed for a 2 year period to allow for a new building to be constructed. So we had a full tour of the cathedral. Private tours are really the better option if you want to know what you are seeing. Thank you, Christele.

Christele was easy to communicate with, was prompt and did a delightful tour of the city. She mixed history with humor and was very enlightening and entertaining. I highly recommend Christele's tour.
