Su Nuraxi
Your private tourist guide will pick you up at the scheduled time by his comfortable minivan. During the 45 minutes route to Barumini, it will be tell you about the main features of the island and the landscape we will see from the car's windows. Once arrived, we will visit the imposing nuraghe "Su Nuraxi" and its village: an Archaeological complex whose most ancient traces are date back to around the 1500 b.c. We will begin from the village, where you will see various types of housing structures, the round ones, with a central courtyard, that go back to the nuragic period, and the rectangular ones, that belong to the punic-roman period. Noteworthy are a central court house with a spa environment perhaps home to a domestic cult, and the big meeting hut. Then, we will enter the real nuraghe, that can be reached by an iron ladder which leads to a tiny entry, placed at 7 metres of height. There we will visit the central tower, called “mastio”, that originally measured 20 metres in height, and the 4 side towers. The whole of the 5 towers makes a housing complex that, for its grandeur, reminds us of a medieval castle. After the visit to su Nuraxi, you will be taken to the place where your excursion began. The tour can also be enriched by choosing one of the different available options.

A bit far for those coming from Olbia, but the visit is worth the trip. Congratulations to the guide. The snack at the bar of the monumental complex was also excellent.

Alessandro was a very kind and prepared guide to our exclusive visit to one of Sardinia's most ancient archaeological sites. He told us about the Island's history, languages, and traditions. His passion and knowledge gave us exclusive insights to this proud population's amazing history. Highly recommended!

I took the English speaking tour. It was very interesting, and the young man, Carlo, did an excellent job. If you have mobility issues you might want to reconsider, or at some point stay behind and wait for the group on the way back. There is a spot that is very narrow and the steps are quite steep. It was easier going down backwards. Then it is a bit of an effort going back up. Be sure you check out the museums your ticket gives you access to. It gives you a bigger picture.

The guided tour is a great idea and included in the entrance fee. We learnt a lot about Nuraghe and made us more aware of the history of Sardinia. Exploring inside the nutaghe was very interesting

This is an extremely interesting site to finish. Excellent guides explained the history and stories behind the site. One caveat you need some agility to tackle some of the entrances but it is well worth it !

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located in Barumini, alternatively called “Su Nuraxidi du Barumini.” This very well-run site is located on Sardinia’s west coast, rich in sites of the Nuragic civilization, which existed only here, contemporary with the Greek Mycenaeans. "Nuragic" stems from the word “nuraghe,” a fortress type of construction built during the Bronze Age, starting 1800 BC. Su Nuraxidi is the most spectacular, dominating vast farm fields. Upon approach it appears to be nothing but a modest pile of rocks but following our guide up and along the iron staircases and into the labyrinth of interior spaces, we were impressed at the complexity of the community that lived here. In conjunction with a visit here, we recommend a stop at the National Archaeological Museum in Cagliari, where chronological displays provide an in-depth understanding of the Nuragic culture.

What a fascinating tour of Su Nuraxi Barumini with Alessandro. Much more than we expected. Alessandro was very knowledgeable about this site and having his guidance we were able to navigate the ruins and learn all the history while avoiding the crowds. We highly recommend touring Su Nuraxi Barumini with Alessandro. The mini rural dairy (Sinnos) was charming and delightful. The cherry on top. What a wonderful restoration of this site by Mr. Lai and his love of making cheese.

Super interesting visit, I did not expect the site to be so great. The guides are very good and prepared. We went during the week, we didn't make the tickets in advance, we still found a place in a group.
