What To Expect
Built in 1914, the spherical steel drum tower was designed to hold 50,000 gallons of water in the of 8m wide water tank . The distinct red structure stands at just over 27.5m tall. The spherical design of the water tank is based on a German design and was partially imported from Europe. The distinctive onion shape of the tower dominates the hill on which it sits, North-East of the Johannesburg city. The unusual design of the Yeoville Water Tower and its elevated, prominent position make it a landmark structure in the Johannesburg suburban skyline.
You'll get a true taste of the continent in Afro-cosmpolitan Yeoville. From East to West Africa, Yeoville has it all. Walking the legnth of the historical Rockey Streetis sensational. The walk includes some spectacular views, forgotten Victorian architecture and some rich political heritage, to accompany the tasting journey. This is unlike any other food tour, so come prepared to expand your palate. All you’ll need to bring with is an open mind, some cash to spend, and a good pair of walking shoes!

5.00The Taste of Africa Food tour was such a wonderful time and way to experience another side to the city. We had 4 stops and walked around Yeoville in between. Also met some great people who were also on the tour with us. (1) first, a delicious grilled Cameroonian fish and plantain. (2) Followed by a walk around an African food market. (3) Next, delicious Ethiopian food. (4) And ending in a South African meal at a cool bar. All washed down by cold beers. The Northern Suburbs of Joburg often feel dead at night, given mall culture etc. This was such a welcome reminder that there is a vibrant street culture in the city, if you venture beyond the usual spots. Thank you Delight, Alvaro, Mbosingenj, Mangqliso and Simthandile!

5.00We did the Taste Of Africa Foodie Tour around Yeoville and it was extraordinary! Mangaliso and Mbongiseni were incredible guides that took us to 3 different stops to try food from Cameroon, Ethiopia and South Africa. Food was phenomenal and we got to experience Johannesburg as a local for a couple of hours! They also showed us Ponte Tower and explained some of its history. Needless to say, our guides made us feel extremely safe every second of the tour and happily answered any doubts we had. Would 100000% recommend!

5.00We coupled this tour with the Hillbrow tour. These are a definite must do if in Joburg. An amazing experience walking the streets gaining an insightful and eye-opening look into these misunderstood areas of the city. Was quite the experience! Both our guides, Delight and Alvaro were also incredible and amazing people. Was great to literally hang out with them all day. all proceeds also go towards funding the community school run within the Ponte Tower.

5.00Took our team to do the Yeoville food tour. It is the third time we do a tour with Dlala Nje and it is always a big hit! The guides are super energetic and passionate. Lovely activities they offer, getting to see a bit more of Joburg.
