We booked the West Coast Discovery Tour with Auckland & Beyond Tours and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip. Maha was an exceptional guide. Knowledgeable, personable, and clearly passionate about what he does. He struck the perfect balance between sharing great information and giving us time to just take it all in. We will absolutely request him again the next time we’re in Auckland. The itinerary itself is fantastic. The drive through the Waitākere Ranges is stunning, and the stop at the Arataki Visitor Centre gives you incredible views and context for the region. The waterfall stop was peaceful and beautiful and allowed for some needed physical activity before our 14 hour flight tomorrow. Then Piha Beach completely delivers that dramatic, wild New Zealand coastline you picture in your head. Seeing Lion Rock up close was a real highlight. This was a perfect way to spend part of our last day in New Zealand. Easy, well-paced, and a great mix of scenery, hiking, and learning about the area without ever feeling rushed or overly structured. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Auckland, especially if you want to experience the west coast without the stress of planning it yourself.

A few days ago I joined a tour to Auckland’s West Coast and it was one of the best experiences I had in New Zealand ! Our guide, Pablo, was amazing, he took care of each and every member of the group and tried to make us all feel safe. In addition he has a great knowledge of the flora and fauna of New Zealand and he gave us amazing information regarding all the birds and plants we were seeing in Waitakere Ranges. I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone who visits Auckland and especially with Pablo as the tour guide!

We made a one-day visit to the west coast with Nancy. It was fantastic. In addition to an incredible knowledge of NZ and its culture, Nancy treated us like family or friends. It was a perfect day.

Enjoyed the beautiful trip out to the west coast. Saw the black sand beach and some absolutely stunning views along the coast at a couple of viewpoints. Stopped for lunch at a terrific little place in Swenson. Went to a nesting spot for the gannets which was a surprise stop since this is the time of the year for them to nest before moving on to Australia. It was a wonderful day trip and would definitely do it again!

Nancy was our driver/tour guide she was an excellent driver, tour guide, and she was also caring about each passenger. She’s very knowledgeable and we enjoyed her sense of humor. She’s engaged with each passenger and we felt part of her little family for the day. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and felt we had seen enough to get a great idea of the area.

Incredible trip! We needed an accessible tour for my daughter as she uses a folding wheelchair. Peter did an awesome job adjusting the trip to accommodate her and made the trip a very relaxing and informative experience. Sculptureum was better than expected and the views in the area were amazing. We highly recommend this tour company!

John was the perfect tour guide. Because we got an early start our first scheduled stop was not yet open so John took us to Omaha beach, which was absolutely beautiful just after sunrise. He shared stories of his family time at the beach, which made it much more enjoyable. He then took us to a coffee shop before we were taken to a chocolate shop where we were able to sample and purchase boutique chocolates. Our visit to the Sculptarium was much more enjoyable than I expected. The setting for the sculptures was visually stunning and the signs accompanying the sculptures were very helpful to this non-artistic viewer. When John heard us saying how we enjoy souvenir shopping he added an unscheduled stop at a small marketplace for approximately 30 minutes where we were able to purchase some lovely souvenirs. Our next stop was a winery, but the one we were scheduled to visit was closed on that day (this should have been known at booking but for some reason obviously it was not). John immediately got on the phone and found a substitute vineyard where we were able to have our wine tasting and sit in a café overlooking a lovely lily pond while we sipped a purchased glass of wine along with canapés and chocolates (also our purchase). Throughout the day John gave wonderful commentary on the country and countryside as well as answering all questions. We learned so much from him. It was a truly enjoyable and wonderful experience.
