This tour is operated for both Japanese and foreign customers. An English-speaking tour conductor will accompany the group and provide key information. Please note that the tour conductor is not a tour guide and will focus on sharing essential information during the tour.
Please note that we are unable to accommodate special dietary requests, including food allergies. If you have specific dietary needs, we recommend making your own meal arrangements. No refunds will be provided for meals.
Guests should be prepared for a 60 to 90‑minute walk between the parking area and the fireworks venue. Parking locations are determined by lottery each year and cannot be confirmed until shortly before departure. The walking distance is due to the venue being located along the riverbank, where parking facilities cannot be placed nearby, and heavy crowd congestion, especially after the event.
A tour conductor will lead the group from the parking area to the viewing seats. After the fireworks, carrying a flashlight is recommended to help illuminate the ground while walking back.
Due to crowd congestion at the venue and traffic delays following the fireworks, arrival at the hotel is expected to be around 3-4:00 AM. Traffic conditions vary each year, so arrival times may change.
This tour is planned based on information available as of February 1. The fireworks event may be canceled or modified due to requests from national or local authorities. If the event is postponed or canceled after the tour has departed, no refunds will be issued.
Depending on the secured Shinkansen schedule and bus operating regulations, guests may be required to wait at Sendai Station for an extended period prior to bus departure. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated to ensure safe and orderly operations.
Hotel room type assignments, such as Western‑style or Japanese‑style rooms, cannot be guaranteed in advance.
As the hotel is a business-style hotel, most rooms are single rooms. Even if two guests book together, they may be assigned separate rooms. Room arrangements cannot be guaranteed in advance.
On Day 2, transportation from the hotel to Sendai Station is not included. If accommodation will be at Hotel Route Inn Sendai East, Sendai Station is approximately 11 minutes by subway with an estimated fare of 250 yen. Fares are subject to change and are paid individually.
You will stay at one of the following business‑style hotels: Hotel Pearl City Sendai or Hotel Route‑Inn Sendai Higashi
Sendai Station
After meeting your tour conductor, you will begin your journey north aboard the Tohoku Shinkansen Yamabiko, traveling in reserved standard‑class seating. The bullet train ride offers a smooth and comfortable way to experience Japan’s high‑speed rail system while watching urban scenery gradually give way to countryside and mountains. Upon arrival in Sendai, the gateway city of Japan’s Tohoku region, you will transition to chartered bus travel. *Please note that lunch is not included on this day; guests are encouraged to prepare a meal in advance and enjoy it on the train or on the bus. From Sendai, the bus continues toward Akita Prefecture with a travel time of approximately 210 minutes including rest stops, heading for one of Japan’s most celebrated summer festivals. Important: Final train details, including exact meeting time and train number, will be confirmed 1 week prior to your tour date and sent via Viator chat. Please check your messages for updates.
Omagari Fireworks
You will arrive in Omagari, famous nationwide as the stage for the Omagari National Fireworks Competition, an event held annually since 1910 and regarded as the pinnacle of Japanese fireworks culture. From your reserved viewing seat, you will watch elaborate fireworks created by elite pyrotechnicians from across Japan, each competing for national recognition. Approximately 18,000 fireworks light up the night sky, including dramatic starbursts, delicate color gradations, and powerful finale sequences synchronized precisely to music. Unlike casual firework displays, each launch here is judged for craftsmanship, creativity, and timing, making the experience feel both artistic and intensely emotional. The event proceeds even in light rain, though it may be canceled in severe weather. After the fireworks end, riverbank and traffic congestion may delay departure, which is a normal and expected part of attending this nationally renowned festival.
Sendai
After the event, you will return by bus to Sendai with a travel time of approximately 210 minutes including rest stops, arriving very late at night around 3-4 AM. You will stay overnight in Sendai City at one of the following business‑style hotels: Hotel Pearl City Sendai or Hotel Route‑Inn Sendai Higashi. Rooms are typically Western‑style (single or twin), making solo travelers especially welcome. Please note that even if 2 people book together, the hotel may assign two single rooms, depending on availability. Room assignments cannot be guaranteed in advance. Final hotel assignment will be confirmed approximately a week before departure and sent via Viator chat. Please note that hotel selection and special requests cannot be accommodated.
