What To Expect
Vijaya Vittala Temple
We commence our tour of Hampi in 1 day at Vijaya Vittala temple , probably the grandest masterpiece around. It is constructed on a polyhedron foundation. Right at the front is the world renowned stone chariot made of rough quartz. You will spot figures of soldiers, hunters and even foreign visitors like Portuguese and Arabs etched on the chariot. The musical pillars of the temple is one of the greatest work of art by mankind.
King’s Balance is the last destination. This is a huge stone frame east of Purandara Mantapa. A stone beam is placed on two pillars of stone. Legend has it that the generous Kings of Vijayanagara used to weigh them with gold and gems and distribute it among the poor.

5.00Our guide Akhil gave us a full day tour of all the major Hampi sites. We had a terrific lunch at the Mango tree then continued touring sites. One of the hi-lights was taking a boat rock to see the ancient temples there. Highly recommend this guide and driver. The car was comfortable with AC.

As I am not good at English, it was helpful that the explanations were given slowly and in simple English. The driver was also very kind and drove safely, so I was able to sightsee with peace of mind. Thank you very much.

5.00Everywhere you look in Hampi there’s something iconic to see. Thanks to Basava, we got a deeper (and fun) experience of the highlights that appealed most to our own interests and needs (2 adults and a 10-year old). It was very nice to have Basava’s knowledge and generations-long background in Hampi guiding us through the Vittala and Virupaksha temples, royal enclosure, Zanana enclosure, Lord Ganesha sculptures, and elephant stables - among many other fascinating sites. Plus, he is an excellent photographer who can make sure you get the best group shots along the way. This tour is a very comfortable way to experience the massive complex. Basava and driver Khaja coordinated drop off and pick up points that catered to us really well. This included 2 different stops for refreshments - a tourist-friendly restaurant for a lassi then a popular family spot for a banana leaf lunch. This may be called an area of ruins, but many religious and spiritual practices continue throughout this vast and grand site. You’ll see this at the temples of course, but also especially on the paths along the Tungabhadra River. It was neat to visit alongside lots of domestic tourists and worshippers - particularly the school groups who seemed to find us quite novel.

5.00Rajesh from 5senses tours is the superstar guide of Hampi! We had a blast with him! not only because he wears the brightest of smiles and keeps charming everyone around him, but also because of his erudition. His deep knowledge of Hampi’s rich past is not overwhelming and sermonish , but light , fun, and deeply informative. And! he is fluent in English and French! He diligently took us to the best sites as we had very little time to explore, and we managed to see a lot! Without Rajesh we would have been lost and most surely missed many important parts of the complex. We’ll be back to explore this most impressive of sites and we will definitely recruit our most favorite of guides from flawless tour company 5senses. If you book Rajesh as your guide , please don't thanks us! Just bring him some nice chocolate on our behalf. Oh and our driver Mohan was beyond excellent! Smoothest drive and most polite driver ever! 5 stars for 5senses tours! 👏👏👏
