Great medieval tour of the city. Lots of interesting stories, facts and things to see. The tour guide was engaging and had lots of hidden jems. We got recommendations for great pubs and restaurants by walking around.

Olivia, an archaeologist who actually works at the Newcastle Keep, led our tour of the central historical sites. If you have a love of history, this tour is for you, covering the religious and secular historical sites and events of Newcastle. Olivia has stories and details from across the Newcastle centuries, from the Romans, and Rufus, to the early days of football, to the execution of witches, and the transformations of places and buildings over time. We finished at the Keep, and it was wonderful to explore the tall confines of the rooms and stairs of that fortress right out of D&D.

Great tour with a very knowlegdeable guide. Olivia knew her stuff. And now I know the connection beetween Bigg and the Icelandic word Bygg (barley). Recommend the tour and also some fine dining at The Blackfriar restaurant for history buffs.
