This was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours in the city centre. Our disparate group consisted of myself - a gobby Glasgow pensioner - and two Bilbao supporters , unfazed by the previous night's defeat. Thomas was our guide, resplendent in knight's clothing without the metal bits. He took one look at us and proceeded with the 'housekeeping' lecture. However, the terrain was easy-going and no-one fell from high walls or tumbled down stairs. There were cobbly bits here and there but nil challenging. We learned about how Newcastle became the prosperous city of the North East. We learned about Harry Hotspur Percy. We went to Blackfriars and found out how Newcastle obtained the magpie colours of the football strip. The Cathedral is an absolute Tardis, huge and beautiful inside. We were happy to hear Newcastle withstood the Scottish marauders on many occasions but used The Auld Alliance to their advantage. Thomas was knowledgeable . The whole tour was injected with humour, too. On our knight's advice, I ended up in the beautiful cathedral cafe - cafe 16. The ceiling is gorgeous. ( The menu was good too). Art is propped up on window ledges. I ended up buying a picture of Sycamore Gap before the felling. All-in-all a fantastic morning.

We had a great tour! Thomas was very knowledgeable and gave us a good working history of the town on our short tour. Well worth the time and money. We enjoyed his hand sewn garments.

Dan was patient, friendly and very knowledgable. It rained for most of the tour but Dan carried on and kindly informed the castle staff we would be doing the castle after a break

We had the tour with Dan and he realy made the tour special. With his enthusiasm and knowledge, the tour was over before we knew it. But we were so much wiser after it. Dan you're the man!

Very interesting tour with a knowledgeable guide - Karyan took us around some interesting parts of the city, not just medieval history. A worth while addition to just entry to the Castile.

First time staying in Newcastle and thoroughly enjoyed the informative tour with lots of local history. Olivia was our tour guide and she was so enthusiastic and welcoming and had us all at ease from the outset. Would not hesitate to recommend this for all history buffs 👍but please supply Olivia with a fur cloak for winter time 🙏

I really enjoyed the walking tour and I would highly recommend it to people looking to learn about Newcastle’s history and see different parts of the city. It’s a fun way of spending a couple of hours and the guide Olivia was superb in sharing her knowledge and providing lots of facts and anecdotes. She made the tour a great experience!

Dan’s 90 minute tour was great! This is our first time in Newcastle. We would not have visited any of these sites had we not gone on the medieval tour. Dan is a great tour guide and quite funny. Recommend to anyone who can walk up and down the hills of Newcastle.

An amazing 90 minutes with our guide Dan. He really brought something special to the tour by the way he dressed and the history we were provided about Medieval Newcastle. There was a bit of walking as you may expect, there were some hilly areas, but anyone with a reasonable level of fitness is able to do it. The Keep entry fee is included and this really makes it worthwhile. A great experience and I would recommend it to anyone visiting as you do get a sense of the city.
