Climbing the Osorno volcano is a great challenge and the perfect highlight of a trip to Patagonia.
It is the perfect viewpoint over the geography of southern Chile. From the summit, we will not only take a deep breath but also enjoy the panoramic views of the Lakes Region and its volcanoes: Puntiagudo, Tronador, Calbuco, Casablanca, Puyehue and, with good visibility, the Lanin and Llaima volcanoes in the distant Araucania region.
This is a glacier climb, physically demanding but not requiring any previous experience, although it does require a very good physical and mental condition.
You will be in small groups. Only one guide for every two clients.
All the guides working with us are local and certified mountain guides.

DINNER
Dinner
Lago Llanquihue
We will drive from Puerto Varas or your pickup location along route 225 to Ensenada, from where we can enjoy the view from the lake altitude to the volcano.
Parque Nacional Vicente Perez Rosales
From Ensenada, we will drive to the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park and up to the Osorno Volcano. We will arrive at the Teski Lodge at 1,100 masl.
Our climbing program on the Osorno volcano starts the evening before the climb for two main reasons: pleasure and safety. The lodge at the end of the road is the perfect place to watch the sunset over Lake Llanquihue and the route we will be climbing. Central heating, showers, internet, a restaurant and bar will allow us to prepare our equipment before or after dinner, get to know each other, discuss the details of the climb, relax and enjoy the Osorno volcano in a different way. We will start our climb from the lodge after breakfast and we will return to it after the climb. Where we can use the facilities to shower, change clothes and celebrate our journey into the Andes.
Today we attempt the summit of the Osorno volcano. The ascent to the 2,656m summit begins before dawn and will take us on a challenging trip through volcanic scree, glaciated slopes, and ice climbing. Although it is a mountain ascent that requires the use of climbing equipment and techniques, it is not necessary to have any previous mountaineering experience, although you should be mentally and physically fit for a long trek in mountain terrain. There will be one guide for every two clients. This ratio allows us not only to adapt the pace to your own, but also to introduce and supervise the use of climbing equipment and techniques. We will provide the technical equipment (helmet, crampons, harness, ice axe) and you will need to pack your mountain boots, clothing and accessories (such as a 30L daypack, gloves, sunglasses, headlamp, trekking poles, water & snacks).
A climbing ratio of 1 guide every 2 clients
We will provide you the technical equipment for the climb: helmeth; crampons; harness; ice axe.

The trip was really amazing. The team from Huella Andina Expeditions was very helpful. Weather was perfect, the vulcano is more than beautiful and a special thanks to my guide Matias. He's a pretty cool guy with a lot of experience, expertise and confidence. Everything was perfect.

Climbed Volcan Osorno with Falco on 29 Jan 2025 - it was amazing! Great organisation, Jose Miguel was very responsive and always willing to help and answer questions, the technical equipment was provided (there's no need for previous technical experience), and Falco was very helpful and supportive all along the climb! Would definitely recommend for any ascension or trek in the area

This mountaineering trip onto the volcano was absolutely amazing. Communication before the trip was smooth, and the provided gear was of high quality, making the climb safe and comfortable. The guides were fantastic—knowledgeable and supportive. The climb itself was both challenging and rewarding, with breathtaking views from the summit. It was a well-organised and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone who loves an adventure!

had an incredible experience with this climbing company—an unforgettable day that was beautiful, thrilling, and challenging, just as I’d hoped! Spending the night before in Tiski was a highlight. It gave us a chance to connect, enjoy the stunning surroundings, and witness an unforgettable sunset—truly magical. A huge shoutout to Falco, who is not only an outstanding professional but also a genuinely wonderful person. He made me feel completely safe, even under tough conditions on the descent, and his charm and sense of humor added so much to the experience.

This was an excellent experience, at a very professionally run operation. José Miguel was very responsive and communicated well. The hike to the summit was expertly guided by Falco, who was safe, kind, skilled, prepared, and reliable. Pick-up from and drop-off at the hotel in Puerto Varas was flawless. As icing on the cake, the dinner at the Teski lodge was surprisingly delicious (come with a fully charged phone or charge before bed, because you may not be able to charge overnight at Teski). The breakfast was more than what I expected. All said, top rate, could hardly be better.

These guys are AMAZING - I did skitouring with Falco (awesome guide who I'd reccomend if you're wanting to go!) as well as multi pitch climbing of Aleta de Tiburon in Cochamo. When I was travelling I was looking for ages to find a reasonably priced company for doing things in southern Chile (some companies on Explore Share were charging $5000 for 8 days in Cochamo?! ) and these guys were amazing on price and quality of the experience. I would highly reccomend you go with them!!
