Several things to like, and unfortunately, several very disappointing, and some dangerous things not to like. The Good: I’ve been riding for well over 50 years and have done multiple tours and solo trips throughout Europe, New Zealand, the United States, and Canada. Hands-down, this was the best riding I’ve done in my entire life. In reality, that has nothing to do with Big Bike, as all of the credit really needs to go to the Thai government for maintaining, for the most part, amazing roads with endless twisties, and sweepers. With that said, relative to Big Bike, the best thing about this trip was our tour leader, Pong. The nicest, most humble guy you would ever want to meet. An excellent rider who was always concerned about everyone and everyone’s safety. Additionally, he provided excellent running commentaries about the various cultures, histories, and religions. The route choices were great. The accommodations varied from quaint to high end and were always nice. The food choices, including regional variations, were a veritable moving feast. The Bad: first day, 200 m from the shop a rider went down at a very slow speed. Our best guess was he was not told he had new tires, and they apparently had some sort of coating that had not been scrubbed out. The same day another motorcycle broke down, and the replacement had to be replaced with a third motorcycle, because the replacement bike’s throttle was too tight. An upgraded KTM duke 89O for a very good rider had no brake lights and an almost nonexistent set of rear turn signals. It made it very dangerous for other riders, especially in the twisties, who couldn’t gauge properly when he was using the brakes. Another bike was released from the shop with a sheared headstock bolt, making it entirely possible that the other bolt could have sheared from forceful riding, causing the rider to lose control. A BMW had the ABS go out. The front rotors on a relatively new triumph 900 were warped. The left mirror on my bike had stripped threads and was repaired with glue and tape! Four times throughout the trip, three of them being in the twisties, my LED screen went completely blank. My brake lever adjuster was broken so I couldn’t adjust the distance. This proved to be annoying especially in the twisties where trail breaking is very important to me. Another rider joined us halfway through the trip, renting a Triumph Speed Triple. The bike had essentially no muffler. Everybody on the trip complained about the incessant, shrieking, loud exhaust. We all had to try to make sure we were in front of him or far enough behind because the sound was so annoying. Residents of small villages were disturbed by the sound; really bad noise pollution out in the countryside. That bike should never have been rented out in that condition. It’s very simple to install a baffle. The rider kept apologizing because everyone was complaining. If, after reading this review, you decide to rent a bike from them, I’d encourage you to go over every inch of it to make sure there is nothing wrong before you leave the main office. To add insult to injury (metaphorically speaking), Big Bike uses the Elephant Conservation Center for one of its stops, knowing full well it is a non-ethical environment for the elephants. This is the 21st-century; you don’t feed, ride or bathe elephants. These are wild animals forced into very stressful environments; I.e., exposed to hundreds if not, thousands of people interacting with them throughout the year. A true elephant sanctuary in Thailand, of which there are many, have observation decks in which there is no interaction with the elephants whatsoever. That is an ethical and natural environment. I have very strong misgivings about this company, and very probably would not book another tour with them.

Fantastic tour, unforgettable roads, top Tour Guide, very reasonable fees. I was highly surprised by the quality/surface gf the roads. Wonderful scenery. Length of the visit was OK, rest day should be an option for those woh want to ride on their own. Staff was super professional, nice, helpful, competent - just WOW. Number of people was good (9 pax), however please think of splitting the rides into two groups, depending on the riders experience. Just as a remark. If it works for me with holiday etc., I will certainly book again a tour at Big Bike Tours.

Great roads, even when wet as we unfortunately got a lot of rain, bikes are sorted and good quality tyres, allow you to ride at your own pace including fast, accommodation was great and I put on weight due to the food supply. Our guide Thun was extremely helpful, handy rider and let the fast ones push along. I've been on other rides (especially Nth Vietnam) and it was painfully slow even on the good sections, to the point that it got boring, and I would not suggest doing them. Not here, roads are great, traffic is light, go have some fun without the worry of cops hiding somewhere and ride to your ability. Will be back for more in this great part of the world with this company as their bikes are modern and well maintained, they let you ride fast and go above and beyond to ensure a good time is had by all. Well done, Thun, and the rest of the team, great trip

This was a perfect company for me. Lanna kingdom was amazing . Pong our guide , exceptional, and even got to like a couple of the Australia's, im a Kiwi. The food was plentiful and great quality, almost if they knew we were coming because almost on the table as we arrived, the accommodation was the best and there were some surprises. Im going to book again as this will have you smiling to.
