Leifeng Pagoda
After visit one of the famous Leifeng Pagoda was built in 976 AD on the southern bank of the world famous West Lake. It collapsed in 1924 because a practice had developed of taking "lucky" bricks from its lower parts. It eventually weakened the structure to such an extent that it collapsed. Rebuilt in 2002, it is an octagonal, five-storied building built of brick and wood. It has a 1400 tonne reinforced steel structure and also includes 200 tonnes of copper parts. Six Harmonies Pagoda, also known as Liuhe Pagoda, is found on Yuelun Hill in Hangzhou on the northern bank of Qiantang River. Its name references the 6 Buddhist ordinances, namely heaven, earth, north, south, east, and west. Its history dates back more than 1100 years to the year 970 in the Northern Song Dynasty when the king of the Wuyue State wanted to show his mortal authority by conquering the Qiantang River’s evil tidal bore. The pagoda also once served as a lighthouse due to its strategic location right next to the Qiantang River.
