Berat
After breakfast at the hotel depart for Berat a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Berat has got two old neighborhoods, Gorica and Mangalem. In 1417 the town was occupied by the Turks who build quite a few mosques in the area below the town’s old castle. Berat is situated at the foot of Tomorri Mountain and on the shores of River Osum. Built in white on a slope of green with the river at its feet, it offers a striking view as soon as it becomes visible. It is famous for its white-washed houses with their many windows which seem to have been built on top of each other, that give it the nickname “town of a thousand & one windows”. It retains a unique style of architecture, with narrow and stone paved streets
Berat Castle
Berat a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Being more than 2400 year old Berat it is one of the most attractive towns in Albania. Established in the 3rd century B.C by an Illyrian tribe of central Albania with a protective castle, it was known as the fortified city of Antipatrea. The castle is the only one in Albania that still has houses and inhabitants within its walls, going about their daily life in exactly the same place their predecessors did centuries ago. We will visit the Castle, St Marys Church turned Onufri Museum which houses an amazingly diverse collection of Icons and two other churches not open to the public. Onufri whose name has been given to this Icon museum was an Albanian master painter of the 16th century who painted many church icons in Albania and Greece and is famous for its red colour named after him. Berat is also famous, as two of the oldest bibles “New Testaments” one from 6th century and one from 9th century AD have been found here. Lunch can be a special in a traditional house within the castle run by a local couple.

Our guide Kosti was very knowledgeable and drove us around this beautiful country with good care. Even his tips for lunch were worth it. Everything was arranged perfectly. I would really recommend this trip! Extra bonus was that we saw the promise land turtle in the fields of Apolonia.

The views were amazing and we got lots and lots of lovely pictures. The tour package and the guide who was Berti were so flexible. We found it really helpful as an international student visiting a new European country. The staffs were friendly and made sure that we were alright throughout the trip.

Our guide Jetmir picked us up very punctually at our hotel. Prior to the day of the trip, we had written communication via Whatsapp and I really appreciated the company answering our questions and making suggestions. They are super accomodating for the pickup, not only within Tirana but also further. Our guide made our day interesting and rich in explanations. The visits were great and he picked a delicious traditional albanian restaurant for lunch. Jetmir took time to answer all our questions, always in a friendly and good mood. We were a group of 4 and we all had a great time. I was impressed with this travel agency and can only recommend ☺️👍🏼 thank you Jetmir !

Amazing! Had a tour with Edi whose English and local knowledge was amazing. Berat and Apollonia are beautiful and well worth the visit. I was a solo Traveller and there was another solo Traveller as well and we were lucky it was a small group. Edi answered all questions and was easy to engage with conversation, as well as volunteering to take lots of photos. Berat is stunning both the castle and city. Views from the castle are perfect. Apollonia we had a Specialist Guide who was able to talk us through the history and story of the site in great detail. The monastery is also beautiful and you have free time to look around and explore. The company keep you updated before you leave and timings and the plans for the fay are shared on the route out. Would have loved to have time to explore more of Berat but we were able to squeeze onto a wine tasting at Çobo wines which made the trip even better! Highly recommend.
