Day 14

mabamba swamp shoebill tour and transfer for flight

1

The Mabamba wetland, located west of Entebbe, is one of the best and most convenient places to encounter the elusive shoebill and a prime birding site. After a few minutes in a small canoe, the papyrus reeds open up into a flat grassy wetland where several shoebills are regularly sighted. The shoebills are most relaxed in the morning when they stalk their main prey( fish or frogs) though they can be spotted all day. The shoebills may stand still for long periods awaiting the movements of their prey and then suddenly strike with astonishing speed. To get to the Mabamba swamp, we will drive from the guest house in Entebbe to the landing site on Lake Victoria, where you will join a boat to the swamp. The boat allows you to see many birds that you may otherwise miss. After the Mabamba trek, you will return to the Entebbe guest house for a rest, and later in the evening, be dropped off at Entebbe airport & depart to your next destination.

  • Unforgettable Safari Experience with Godwin and Beautiful Safari's Uganda

    - Review from Tripadvisor

We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Godwin, our incredible guide for an 8-day Ugandan safari with Beautiful Safari's Uganda. From start to finish, Godwin went above and beyond to make our adventure not just spectacular, but truly unforgettable. Godwin was the perfect tour guide. He struck the perfect balance between keeping us informed and giving us space to enjoy our romantic safari holiday. He always ensured we knew the plan for the day while also respecting our need for quiet moments together to soak in Uganda’s stunning landscapes and incredible wildlife. But it was his personal touches that really set him apart. When we encountered issues with customs trying to get our drone in and out of Rwanda, Godwin stepped in and handled the situation with such professionalism and care, saving us a ton of stress. He even went out of his way to stop and pick up a bottle of the local hot sauce we fell in love with in Rwanda and made sure we had the chance to try local Ugandan banana spirit. These thoughtful gestures made us feel so valued as travelers and as people. Despite spending Christmas away from his own family, Godwin gave his all to make us feel like the most important people in the world. His dedication, professionalism, and warm personality made our trip feel not just like a tour, but like an adventure shared with a trusted friend. We can’t recommend Godwin and Beautiful Safari's Uganda highly enough. Our time with him left us completely in love with Uganda, and we can’t wait to return. If you’re considering a safari in Uganda, do yourself a favor and request Godwin as your guide—you’ll be in the best hands imaginable.
