Medina of Tangier
After breakfast, explore Tangier, which is a major entry point from Europe to Morocco, with many recent additions to improve the city as a tourist destination, including a new marina area (a nice place for a quick walk), and the Medina area. The Tangier Kasbah (fortified castle) is small and compact enough to allow for a self-guided and easy walk by following the various signs. Enter through Bab Haha and enter Place du Mechouar. If you’d like, you can pay for a guide to tour with you. About 15-20 minutes away from the city, you can also visit Cap Spartel and the Cave of Hercules, which takes about 1 hour to fully enjoy. Tetouan
In the morning, have breakfast and then make your way toward Chefchaouen. On the way, you’ll pass through Tetouan, which is a jewel of a town in a striking location at the foot of the Rif Mountains, just a few kilometers from the sea. Lunch will be at your leisure.

Chefchaouen

It was here that he founded the Idrisid dynasty, making Moulay Idriss Morocco's first Islamic capital and a site of ongoing cultural significance. The city also contains the only round minaret in Morocco. You can eat lunch here, or wait to eat at the next stop
Meknes Medina
The last stop before Fes is the prosperous city of Meknes. It has a smaller medina than Fes and you can explore at a leisurely pace, without worrying about aggressive shopkeepers. You will start by crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains through the town of Azrou and its majestic cedar forests. Here, you can take a brief detour to the scenic Cèdre Gouraud Forest, where troops of Barbary Macaque monkeys lounge in ancient cedar trees near the road. You’ll stop for lunch in Midelt, which sits on a cold, high desert plateau. Despite the harsh landscape, Midelt is known as Morocco's "Apple City" for its productive orchards. This is only possible because the Moulouya River (the third-longest river in Morocco) provides year-round water as it runs to the Mediterranean Sea.
Midelt
Continuing on, you’ll cross a landscape of steep mountain ranges, wide valleys, and narrow canyon passes. You will follow the Ziz Valley, an important branch of the ancient Saharan Trade Route. You will start to see many fortified houses (known as ksars) that were built by merchants to protect the gold, salt, and spices that passed this way.
Erg Chebbi
After crossing through the incredible Ziz Gorge, you will begin to see early signs of Saharan sand dunes. These wind-blown dunes are in constant motion, often leading them to encroach upon farms, roads, and buildings. You can also see an ancient method of water "mining” here, an ingenious way to transfer water from the mountains to farmland, which was employed before modern pumps were invented. Along the way, you'll notice nomadic shepherds and some tents in this area. Near Merzouga, you can take a short break as you prepare for the trip to your desert camp. If you ride a camel, you will arrive at camp just before sunset. You can climb up to watch the colorful sunset reflecting on the sand dunes. Head back to camp for dinner and a night of traditional Berber music by the fire. There is almost no light pollution in this region, so be sure to look at the starry night sky before you head to bed.

DesertTrips took my wife and I on a 15 day tour in a private vehicle - ( just the two of us in a Toyota 4wd,) - and their Driver - "Said". It was a 5 star experience all the way. Everything - from airport pick up, accomodation, Said's all round safety and care, along with his attention to detail, his fun and easy attitude, made the experience of driving around Morocco one of the best experiences I have had - (and I've had a few..!) Morocco is safe, diverse, and the local people are friendly and wonderful. DesertTrips arranged for some great knowledgable guides to take us through the life-brimming alleyways in the Medina's etc... and if you enjoy Photography, Morocco hands life to you on a platter. The photos I have added don't do justice to the thousands I took... The Diversity of the tour was incredible - the ever-changing landscapes, the cities and towns all had different things to offer, and our accomodation, which included Hotels and Riads, never disappointed! It's a fun place - and DesertTrips never dropped the ball once. Thank you Said for your wonderful company and Joy we all shared together... Geoff and Laurian.

My recent trip to Morocco was simply unforgettable, an experience that I will cherish forever. Thanks to the perfect organization of DesertTrips, everything has been taken care of in every detail, allowing me to fully enjoy this incredible adventure. Communication was smooth and timely, and I really appreciated their ability to adapt quickly to changes. I had the chance to visit the most iconic places in Morocco. Each stop was a dive into the history and spirit of this vibrant and cosmopolitan country. The hotels and riads they proposed were perfect both in terms of location and in terms of the quality of the rooms, it allowed me to move easily to all the main attractions. In addition, the agency was able to integrate in the package very useful services, such as guided tours and tips on how to better organize my days. Another element that made the trip perfect was Hssaine driver/guide, who guided me with competence, lightness and a lot of humanity. He was always present and knew how to make me feel free and at the center of my journey. With his enthusiasm and passion he made me experience Morocco not as tourists, but as real travelers. Morocco is a country that never sleeps, yet, thanks to this impeccable organization, I managed to live everything without stress, with the feeling of always having the time necessary to discover and appreciate every detail.

We are so glad that we chose Desert Trips to organise our 15-day travel from north to south Morocco. From the very beginning, Khalil helped us with advice on designing our itinerary and choice of hotels and activities. There were numerous highlights of this trip, including: Our excellent driver Said who was such a considerate driver, looked after our comfort and interests all the time. We were so sorry when our tour finished to say our goodbyes. We knew what to expect in some of the Moroccan cities which we had previously visited (and relished our visits there), but we were enchanted with several new places for us (especially Tangier, Chefchaouen and Fes). The hotels recommended to us in these cities were ideally located for us to walk about the main sites. Another highlight for us were the stays in the desert. On our way for a camel trek and sunset. The camels were amazing. Very well cared for. The camp was pretty cool. The tents were quite large and comfortable plus AC. That evening we enjoyed an awesome traditional dinner with tajine and all. In the morning, we rose at the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise. All the places where we had a local guide planned helped in our appreciation of the history, architecture and culture of the place. Highlights for us were the excellent guides in Rabat(Abdallatiph), Fes(Mehdi) and Marrakech(Mustapha). We always felt secure that we could rely on Khalil to keep us updated on our progress and next-day plans. He was very efficient in sorting out a minor problem we had with the booked hotel in Casablanca and relocated us within an hour to a great hotel close to and overlooking the Hassan II Mosque. All in all, we had a wonderful time and we are very happy to highly recommend Desert Trips for organising bespoke tours to match visitors’ interests. For those saying you could book all travel yourself, etc. And get a cheaper price: that may be true but services like Desert Trips charge in part for their workers' time and the labor they put into organizing everything. It is important to acknowledge the convenience that comes as a result of someone finding your amazing driver and all your hotels, local guides, etc. Not to mention that when booking with a company like this, there is an added layer of accountability that the hotels, etc. have to meet (which makes for better service most times) and also safety (esp. for solo travelers). Overall, we will be happy to have another trip organised by Desert Trips

I'm sold.. Normally, there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned, it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took. DesertTrips took care of everything! All we had to do was show up when we were supposed to. When you arrive at the airport, a driver greets you! We enjoyed the opportunity to talk with the driver, Said, to learn more about his country, culture, and history. Highly recommend him.! Our local guides were excellent and helpful in every way. A highlight was having the guides pick local restaurants where we could share meals together, all the food was much more delicious them I expected. Our accommodations were all great. It was so relaxing for me and I was able to enjoy the trip. To sum up, DesertTrips was a fantastic team to work with, and I can't wait to plan our next trip with them...which might be soon...

ASSOU was the heart and soul of our trip — our assistant, timekeeper, guide, and an exceptional driver. Every morning, he arrived ahead of schedule, greeting our group with a warm smile at the hotel. He ensured we reached every destination and hotel on time, without fail. Beyond his regular duties, ASSOU went above and beyond, often driving us to our favorite restaurants and accommodating our requests, even when it meant late nights. His dedication earned him the admiration and praise of everyone in the group. We are also deeply grateful to Khalil and Med, the leaders of the travel agency, for their meticulous planning of our Morocco journey. They listened carefully to our needs and thoughtfully arranged our itinerary and accommodations. Travel often comes with unexpected surprises, but Khalil’s sense of responsibility and quick adjustments ensured everything ran smoothly. As a U.S.-based travel agency, their professionalism and commitment truly stood out. The entire trip was perfect, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to ASSOU for his hard work and outstanding contributions.

Our 16 day tour around Morocco from Casablanca was truly an amazing experience. Led by our wonderful driver Said, we always felt at ease as he drove safely and could always answer questions about the different regions we passed through and gave us insight on each city. Said was careful and kind throughout the trip and we enjoyed listening to his car playlist very much. He was an excellent showing us around the desert. Our local guides in Fes, Marrakech and Essaouira were all very good too and very insightful. We enjoyed ourselves very much and were astounded by the beautiful changing landscapes that Morocco had to offer. These landscapes were complimented by the beautiful riads and locations chosen for us to stay at and truly made the experience memorable. A big thank you to Khalil for his prompt engagement and answering our queries and thank you again to Said for making the journey smooth and safe. Thank you to the guides included in the itinerary too that made the trip so alive as we learnt so much about the rich culture of Morocco. It was an experience of a lifetime and we are happy that we chose Desert Trips to facilitate this experience.

I just completed the 15-Day Grand Tour of Morocco with my Desert Trips tour guide, Said. I have travelled to all 7 continents previously, but this trip was a wonderful visit to another world, guided by an enjoyable man who is always professional, helpful, courteous and informative, not to mention happy and fun. The two weeks flew by as a result of not only Said's assistance, but a great itinerary of sights, sounds and tastes, all taken in via strong and reliable transportation - Toyota Land Cruiser. The accommodations were excellent, always comfortable, clean and stylish in a variety of forms - Berber, Arabic & French. The breakfasts every day were filling and tasty, along with a few delicious Moroccan dinners included. I have no complaints whatsoever. Saying goodbye to Said at the airport tomorrow will not be easy. My thanks to Said and company owner Med. If you have any questions, I can be contacted at [email protected] Ron Jerak
