Ho Chi Minh - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho

You will be collected from your hotel at 8:00 am ready to begin our amazing adventure. Our first stop is the Cai Be Pier along the mighty Mekong River. Sit back and relax as our ‘sampan’ (a traditional motorised boat) takes you along the serene canals. These hidden waterways are engulfed in lush vegetation and local villages where you can admire the colours and culture alike. Next up, we get back on the dry land of the Tan Phong island. After a quick stop off at a tasty fruit orchard, we will experience the enchanting music of Vietnam as guests of a local performance and take a guided bicycle tour of this marvellous island. Along the way, we will visit native families and learn how these locals use the land to craft everything from delicate rice paper to the sturdy roofs of their homes. A local family will treat us to Mekong delicacies for lunch which include freshly made spring rolls, fried pumpkin flower, and beautifully braised pork soaked in coconut juice.

Vinh Long

After our special Mekong lunch, we’ll transfer back to our boat and into the smaller canals of the delta. Here we can get up close and be a part of the daily life of local people and farmers. We will see the handicraft of local merchants preparing delicious coconut candy, rice-wine, unique hand-crafted pottery, and bricks made from scratch. Then we’ll head to the Vinh Long Pier and market where you can see even more of the specialities the Mekong has to offer. Finally, we will head to Can Tho to reach your accommodation. We’ll have the chance to relax and explore the beautiful nightlife and tasty cuisine of the night market in this spectacular town during your overnight stay.

Day 2

Cai Rang Floating Market - Vinh Trang Pagoda - Ho Chi Minh

Cai Rang Floating Market

On day two, we’ll get up early and head straight out to make the most of the day. We’ll board our own private boat to head to Cai Rang, the biggest floating market in the whole of Asia. You will get to experience local produce being sold first hand from boat to boat. You’ll get the chance to buy products of your own and you can even sip your morning coffee at one of the awesome floating coffee shops.

Vinh Trang Temple

After the market, we will head back to the hotel for some well-deserved breakfast. Having checked out, we’ll head to My Tho to visit the breathtaking Vinh Trang pagoda. Here your guide will show you around the incredible five-acre site. They will explain the history of the temple and show you the unique architecture and sculpture. After what promises to be an interesting and enjoyable day, we’ll head back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you back to your accommodation.

This tour was a truly unforgettable experience from start to finish! The 2-Day Mekong Delta and Floating Markets Private Tour was the perfect way to explore the heart of southern Vietnam, and having Sunny as our guide made it even more special — he’s simply the best! Everything was perfectly organized. The private boat ride through the Mekong was peaceful and scenic, and rowing through the small canals was an incredible, immersive experience — like stepping into a postcard. We loved every moment of it. One of the highlights was the amazing homestay. It was warm, welcoming, and gave us a real taste of local life. Meeting and visiting with local families made the experience so much more personal and meaningful. The food was fresh and delicious, and the hospitality was second to none. Sunny was outstanding — full of energy, knowledge, and kindness. He shared so much insight into the culture, traditions, and daily life of the Mekong Delta, always making sure we were comfortable and having a great time. His passion for his work and love for his country truly shine through. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a deeper, more authentic experience in Vietnam. In my three trips to Vietnam (2010, 2020 and 2024), I opted for a two-day trip to the Mekong Delta all three times. This time, however, Maika Tours exceeded my expectations. The rest of the group (8 memberes) also told me that this was the best part of our 17 day tour of Vietnam. Our guide, mr. Tien looked after us every step of the way and showed exceptional knowledge of the places and history. We are able to see real Mekong delta and took a lot of beautiful photos and memories. I sincerely thank Maika Tours for the fantastic, rich program of the two-day trip to the Mekong Delta.

We took this tour the first day we arrived in Vietnam. Tien, our guide, picked us up directly at the airport and we started with the tour right away. On the first day we sailed on the river, passing through villages and uncontaminated nature. On the second day we saw the floating market and took a bike tour through the villages of the delta. It was a unique and unforgettable experience! Tien was amazing and made us fall in love with Vietnam from the first moment. Highly recommended tour!

Maika travel is a top notch local operator . We organized with them a 10 days trip between Hcmc the delta of Mekong and con dao islands . Everything was perfect the guides and the vehicles and the quality of the food . communication with mr giang was excellent . Really excellent

I highly recommend Maika Tours! I requested an LGBT friendly guide and was so fortunate to get to work with Candy. The tour was awesome. I saw and experienced so many different aspects of life in the Mekong Delta in a very short time - different kinds of boats, delicious food, the floating market in Can Tho, and more. The entire experience was seamless; so professional, friendly, and well organized. The Maika Tours team went above and beyond to make this a great trip. I highly recommend working with them!

We went on this tour, two families of four, with children aged 9-12 years old. We were really happy with it and highly recommend. It was perfectly organised and included being on Mekong Delta on boat, small canoes, cycling, eating fantastic lunch in a local Eco lodge, going to market, seeing how locals make food or other products, going to the floating market, eating fruits on the boat. Lin was our guide and she was fantastic, would really do a trip with her again. It was nice to do this privately and easy to adjust with Lin if needed. Maika helped us book the accommodation in Can Tho which we really appreciated. Would highly recommend and for sure do a again.

An amazing experience visiting such a unique place! Our guide was excellent; kind, informative and very funny. Accommodation was brilliant too. We experienced many new things on this two day tour and left with great memories and new knowledge of the amazing culture of Vietnam!
