Delphi and Meteora ("suspended in the air") in a 2-day/1-night private tour.
Why this tour?
Because of the quality of the ride, the great tour leader, the non-touristy lunch & drinks!
☼ After dropping you off at Delphi, stroll around the area on a self-guided tour to see the Temple of Apollo and Athina Pronaia. Then, enjoy a great lunch—your driver's treat —at a location where Greeks eat out.
☼ We arrive at Meteora early enough for an extra (but included) late afternoon visit to the famous rocks. We spend the evening relaxing at a great hotel facing Meteora.

Delphi Archaeological Museum
The Archaeological Museum of Delphi, one of the most important in Greece, exhibits the history of the Delphic sanctuary, the site of the most famous ancient Greek oracle. Its rich collections are comprised primarily of architectural sculptures, statues, and minor objects donated to the sanctuary. The famous Charioteer belonged to a statuary complex of a chariot run by four horses and included a second male figure. The Sphinx of the Naxians, dated to 560 BC, comprises one of the earliest representations in art of the demonic creature with a lion's body, bird's wings, and a woman's head.
Delphi Ancient Town
The archaeological site of Delphi is one of the most important ones in Greece, second only to the Acropolis of Athens. The magnitude of the Delphi contributions to the entire ancient civilization cannot be overstated. The pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, where the oracle of Apollo spoke, was the site of the omphalos, the 'navel of the world'. Blending harmoniously with the superb landscape and charged with sacred meaning, Delphi in the 6th century B.C. was indeed the religious center and symbol of unity of the ancient Greek world.
OPTIONAL: The first photo you see when you google "Delphi" but still a place that most tourists miss out on!
Amfissa
Driving on towards Meteora to avoid the touristy Delphi or Arachova we'll stop at a total of the beaten-path location for our lunch with authentic choices, the treat of your driver/tour leader.
Meteora
OPTIONAL: If you follow our plan and there are no unexpected delays -although not part of the normal itinerary- we shall make the first visit to the amazing monasteries' area from Day 1 to get a feeling of the unique landscape with the late afternoon lighting. Time permitting it may even be possible to visit St Stephan's monastery. The main visit will follow the next morning (day 2)!
BREAKFAST

LUNCH
Lunch
We shall be visiting two of the monasteries that are open on a specific day. The gigantic rocks of Meteora dominate imposingly over Kalampaka town. This masterpiece of nature reveals all its glory for centuries as a unique geological phenomenon in beauty and an important monument of Orthodoxy. The Great Meteoron Monastery, built on an imposing rock, is the oldest, the biggest, and the most important among the monasteries of Meteora which are preserved today.
Varlaam Monastery
In 1350 a daring ascetic named Varlaam ascended to the rock. The monastery was named after him. He built three churches, a small cell, and a water tank. After his death, the rock remained abandoned for about 200 years until 1517 when the two priest-monks Theophanes and Nektarios Apsarades started to construct the first buildings from the beginning.
Probably the most photographed monastery. According to historical sources Holy Trinity must have been built between 1458 and 1476.
Battlefield of Thermopylae
We take a break at the Thermopylae battlefield location with King Leonidas' statue. The Battle of Thermopylae was fought between an alliance of Greek city-states, led by King Leonidas of Sparta, and the Persian Empire of Xerxes-I in 480 BC.
Expect to be back in Athens around 5 pm. You can optionally be dropped off at your cruise ship or even the airport. Do remember that you can combine this tour with "The Ultimate Greek Experience: 7-Day Tour to the Peloponnese Delphi and Meteora" tour.

I wish I booked my whole 10 days in Greece with EUDAIMONIA Private Tours. The care our driver Panayiotis took to make sure we were comfortable was great. All of the stops and food on the 2 day Delphi/Meteora tour were authentic and the accomodation was superior with the most amazing views! Recommending to all my friends and family!!! Our driver also went out of his way to help us with the rest of our stay.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Eudaimonia. Within an hour of booking through Viator, Niko sent an email confirmation introducing them. Our original trip was a one night, two day trip to Meteora, but after discussing date challenges with Niko we turned it into a two night, three day trip to Meteora, Delphi and Galaxidi. Our guide Panayiotis was fabulous. He spoke English quite well, was very knowledgeable, and we had very interesting conversation during the car rides. He really made the trip enjoyable. We made the mistake of leaving our passports at our first hotel on night one and did not realize it until midday of day two. Instead of letting it ruin our entire day, Niko and Panayiotis worked diligently to get them sent by courier back to Athens in time for our cruise ship embarkation. Their efforts above and beyond made us eternally grateful. We will definitely use Eudaimonia again if in Greece and will recommend them to all our friends.

In early October, my daughter and I enjoyed a two day tour to Delphi and Meteora, a perfect introduction to our two week stay in Greece. This tour allowed us to explore Delphi and four of the amazing monasteries of Meteora at our own pace. Panayiotis, our guide, was a calm and competent driver as well as excellent company, answering our many questions and sharing helpful information on what we would see on our tour, as well as suggestions for our remaining time in Greece. He took us to restaurants and introduced us to dishes we might not have otherwise discovered, and, after surveying the buffet dinner at our hotel, surprised us with a delivery of excellent local souvlaki to our room. Additionally, he went out of his way to help us resolve a glitch with our ferry ticket to Crete. Pickup at our hotel in Athens was right on time; the car was very clean and comfortable. Our included hotel in Meteora boasted amazing views of the impressive landscape. We highly recommend this tour!

We had the best time with Theo on our 2 day tour to Delphi and Meteora. We had to make some modifications to our trip due to other travel related time constraints. But Nikos and Theo accommodated our needs seamlessly while ensuring we had plenty of time to experience the two sites. For future travelers I would recommend doing the 2 day tour as it allows you more time at each location versus spending time driving back and forth from Athens.

This tour was amazing - - the archeology at Delphi was extremely well depicted and preserved. It is a very scenic site and quite easy for walking. The view from Delphi is stunningly beautiful! The adjacent museum is a modern building and the artifacts are well curated, with just the right amount of objects and descriptions. Meteora was out of this world with fascination! The monasteries are beautiful, architectural wonders. The scenery is literally, breath taking - - photos cannot do this place justice, it's a must see! Theo, our tour guide had a degree in archeology and history - - he was very knowledgeable and gave us a very good overview of each site. As well, he had answers to all of our questions. Theo (Theodore), made our trip a very pleasurable experience, he is most pleasant, helpful and has a sense of humour, all the while maintaining professionalism. His driving is excellent. My husband and myself are so very happy that we took this two-day tour, it was the highlight of our trip to Greece. I should mention the hotel chosen for our overnight stay was large, clean, modern and attractive.

If you are considering taking this tour, I do not think you will be disappointed. We had two wonderful days! Meteora is breathtaking, Theodore our guide was knowledgeable, polite, accommodating and always making sure we were comfortable and having a good time. The hotel was great, with beautiful views to Meteora and a very generous breakfast in the morning. We really enjoyed the lunches, food was delicious and abundant. I HIGHLY recommend this tour, especially if you are as lucky as we were to have Theodore as our guide.

This was a wonderful tour and we are very glad to have taken it. Meteora was unbelievable. Thodoris (driver) is an archeologist and was very nice. The lunches (on the way to and back from Meteora) were the best ones we had in Greece. I strongly recommend this two-day tour. Hotel was also great.
