What To Expect
Discovering Andean Mountains from Cusco to Aguas Calientes
Cusco
Your adventure will start very early in the morning between 6:00 am and 6:30 am, with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. You will meet the group and have a chance to get comfortable with everyone. From there, we’ll drive about an hour to Ollantaytambo, our first stop, where you can grab breakfast, pick up some snacks, or use the toilets. After a quick break, we’ll continue the journey to one of the most stunning spots on the tour: Abra Malaga, sitting over 4,300 meters above sea level. Feel the magic of the Andes as you take some pictures of the place, then let the warmer, green landscapes wrap you in their beauty as we descend to the next point.
Aguas Calientes
By around 12:00 pm, you will reach Hidroeléctrica, where you will have time for lunch to refuel before starting a scenic hike along the train tracks toward Aguas Calientes. The hike takes about 3 hours, winding through breathtaking mountains and lush vegetation. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you will get to the hostel and later enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, where your guide will share all the info you need for the next day’s big adventure.
Exploring the Inca Citadel of Machupicchu

Our second day starts between 4:00 am and 4:30 am to enjoy breakfast and get ready for the hike to Machu Picchu (It takes about 40 min to 1 hour, depending on your fitness level). If you would rather skip the walk, there’s an option to take a bus to Machu Picchu—just contact us for more details. You will meet your guide and the group at Machu Picchu main gate to begin the guided tour. Involve yourself in the breathtaking views and learn all about Inca history. After this, you will have some extra time to explore and enjoy the site on your own pace. Remember, you will need to return to Hidroeléctrica for lunch at your chosen restaurant before boarding our minivan back to Cusco. The drive takes around 7 hours, sometimes a bit longer due to road work. We’ll arrive in the capital of the Inca Empire between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm, where your driver will drop you off just three blocks from the Plaza de Armas.

5.00Phenomenal service! Huge thank you to Nixon, our tour operator, who helped us assemble the Machu Picchu trip within just a week and a half before departure. Everything was precise, well timed. Deeply appreciated the updates regarding the Machu Picchu ticketing system as we were buying the tickets in person. Many changes were made to the original plan including swapping the van for the the train both ways, as well as getting an extra night at Aguas Calientes, and everything was incredibly well-orchestrated. Thank you again, and we will definitely be back again!
