The trek is a medium one, except the part when/if we climb the highest peak of National Park: we spend 2 days in one of the most beautiful mountains of Romania, Piatra Craiului National Park.

Departing from Brasov, the half-day hour tour begins with a stop at Rasnov to explore its imposing, 13th-century fortress.

Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)

Next up is Bran Castle, also known as ‘Dracula’s Castle’ — a hilltop estate that conjures up visions of howling wolves and bats fluttering in the moonlight. Wander the castle’s Gothic chambers and learn about its ties to Bram Stoker’s undead antihero.

We trek between 5 - 8 hours, we make a stop to an authentic sheep farm for a "special" lunch (from June to September), we cross 2 authentic mountain villages - Magura and Pestera - where we stay overnight to a local guesthouse having local food (the facilities are in the hall or in the room), depending of the weather and you we climb the highest peak of the National Park (2238), we cross Zarnesti Gorges.

Marian organized a 2 day hike for me at the last minute. It was really really great. The hikes were beautiful, the guesthouses lovely and the guides really knew their stuff. Would highly recommend reaching out to Marian if you want to plan something similar. The Romanian countryside is picture perfect.

We did the 2 day culture trek with the most amazing guide Mihal. He was very knowledgeable in Romanian history, a fantastic mountain guide and a great person to hang out with for 2 days. We loved everything and even though the weather wasn’t ideal for our hike he made the best of it for us. It’s a great company and the value is really good. We also loved the guesthouse we stayed in in Magura, was some of the best food we’ve had on our 7 week trip. Thanks to Marian and Mihai - we’ll be back :)
