The Bender family continues a 50 year tradition of traveling in open air style safari vehicles north of Corolla along the ocean and sand dunes on a 2 hour, small group, excursion sharing history and ecology along the way. We stop for several photo opportunities and points of interests along the way, as well including private access to the Wild Horse Conservation Area. This tour also includes a professional and knowledgeable horse guide to educate you on what you are seeing. Choose from one of 3 departure times when you book.
The maximum will be TWELVE (12) people.
If you have more than 12 people please call us directly for accommodations.
We will NOT be able to allow any children UNDER 45 POUNDS on the tour.

We cannot accomodate kids under five years of age or 40 pounds, if you do not read this and you arrive with kids that don't meet these requirements, we will be forced to tell you that they can not come and as parents ourselves, this breaks our hearts. Please read all instructions.
We are not responsible if you get stuck in traffic. Being stuck in traffic does not warrant a refund. Traffic is common. Please allow time to arrive 30 minutes prior to the time of your tour.
No children under 40 pounds can come on the tour whatsoever.
Adult pricing applies to all travelers 13 years of age and older.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring drinks, just no alcoholic beverages or glass containers.
Dogs have been asked to not be brought on tour by the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. Registered Service Animals only.
Any changes or amendments to bookings, including number of persons, date, time, or discounts must be made through Viator. Corolla outback adventures cannot amend reservations without a request from traveler made to Viator.

4.00We happened to be here on a sunny, cool and breezy day (in the 60s); fortunately blankets were provided or we would have been extremely uncomfortable. Harems of horses were grazing on bushes in yards, ignoring our group completely, so we could get a few pictures. The guide, Carla, was fantastic! As a local, she was able to provide history of the area. Pro: got to see some horses and learn about the area Con: you’re on the back of a pickup truck with only a seatbelt and nothing to hold on to when the truck hits ruts in the sand. Sitting straight up for a 2 hour tour can be uncomfortable. Not recommended for anyone with back problems.

4.00If the weather is chilly, you definitely need to wear some heavier clothing, riding in the back of the truck can be cold and bumpy. The driver was very knowledgeable about the horses and their history.

1.00This tour was very disappointing. We saw no horses and spent a lot of time riding around sand streets in a residential towns. It was extremely boring. I should have done better research. The horses are free to wander an area that includes spaces where they can graze and be protected. But apparently they spend considerable time in residential areas, The tour is touted as one where guides know where to go. Apparently not.
Outstanding tour… be ready to bounce a bit!

4.00We went on the 9 am tour. It was very windy and cold driving on the road and the open beach (early April—outside temps around mid 50s). Make sure to bring a heavier coat or at least a wind breaker with a hood. If you have longer hair, tie it up. Unfortunately we weren’t able to see any horses on our trip. Not sure if it was too early, but friends went at 3pm and saw them. 🤷🏻♀️. The guide was great and he really looked for them but no luck. Other trucks that went at the same time didn’t see them either. Still a good trip!!

5.00Dress really warm! Pants, knit hat, coat. It gets super windy traveling down the beach. When you see the horses it is so worth it! They are so beautiful. Our guide, Kurt was so knowledgable and had a wonderful sense of humor. We loved it. It was the highlight of our family trip!

3.00The weather was cold and windy on the ocean we thought we could see more wild horses but there was more beach houses on the travel the trip was what I thought it would be there need to be more horses there
