We had an amazing experience with our guide John, who took care of us from the moment he picked us up at the airport in Kigali on our three day trip to Bwindi. He is extremely kind, knowledgeable, and knew almost everyone at the Bwindi National Park and hotels. He hooked us up with one of the best families in the park! He also went out of his way for us to buy a beautiful fabric to take home as a gift for a family member. John, thank you so much for such an unforgettable experience. We will definitely take another tour with John, and visit the beautiful and kind people in Uganda. Don't hesitate and book your trip. You won't regret it!

Bamboo Eco Tours were able to customise our trip to suit our needs. They made it incredibly easy for us. We were collected from Kigali by the lovely Fred who was our driver and guide for 4 days. He collected us is a 4x4 safari truck which was just for us two friends. He then drove us from Rwanda to Uganda and Bwindi National Park. This was a long drive crossing the Rwanda/Uganda border. The roads were a mixture of tarmac and unmade track so you needed the 4x4. Fred was an amazing driver, navigating, potholes, slow vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, difficult terrain. We always felt safe in his hands. We stayed 2 nights at the Gorilla Lodge near Bwindi and visited the gorillas on day 2 of our trip. The Gorilla Lodge was beautiful, good food and Fred dined with us for 2 nights so we learnt about his family and work. He was a kind and gentle soul who was always on time, flexible with our needs so we were able to collect more cash from an ATM when needed (you need to tip more people than you think). He also took us to the Rwanda Genocide Memorial at the end of our trip rather than the beginning as we did not have the energy after a long flight. On day 3 we were taken to Lake Bunyonyi for a bird watching trip. Really lovely hotel Birdnest Lodge, great food and cocktails. Bamboo Eco organised the bird watching for us on the beautiful lake. You can swim in the lake too which I can recommend if this is your thing. We saw lots of birds and otters, beautiful surroundings and learnt about some of the stories of the different islands. Then Fred took us back to Kigali for our onward trip. Bamboo Eco Tours were fantastic, great communication, personalised trip, nothing was too much trouble. Fred was a delight to spend a few days with. He was good at giving us history and updates on the different countries and aspects of daily life. I would highly recommend Bamboo Eco Tours to anyone hoping to see the gorillas and other highlights of Uganda and Rwanda. Affordable, beautiful hotels to stay in, wonderful staff and everything made so easy for us on what could have been a difficult trip to navigate on our own.

My amazing gorilla trek was coordinated by Bamboo EcoTours. Every step of the trip went smoothly, from initial inquiry to delivery, thanks to Edison's clear and timely information. My driver/guide, Amanya, was prompt and friendly and provided information about things along the way on our drive from Kigali to Lake Mulehe and Bwindi National Park. After completing the Gorilla trek, I decided to do the Golden Monkey trek the following day, and although not initially included in the itinerary, this additional activity was organized with no fuss. I would highly recommend Bamboo Eco Tours!

This amazing gorilla trek was coordinated by Bamboo EcoTours. Every step went smoothly including pickup, accommodation, meals, supplemental activities such as visiting the Dian Fossey Museum as well as the gorilla hike itself. Our guide was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable and we felt very safe driving with him. Bamboo EcoTours made sure we had all the information we needed to prepare for the trip and quickly responded to any questions. We would highly recommend!

I cannot recommend Bamboo Ecotours highly enough! Edison is one of the, if not the best tour company owner I have seen. He is prompt, precise, respectful, kind in communication. He simply answers with the exact right information you ask, not more not less. No trying to push you for anything no asking for favors (like writing a review on TripAdvisor ;) He just does his job as it should be done in a decent world. Not only that, Bamboo Ecotours prices are competitive and they take credit cards at no extra charge, they don't ask for a deposit in advance to profit from any misfortune you might have (apart from the gorilla permit which is of course normal as they are non-refundable). I finally would like to give a shoutout to my driver-guide Amanya. (I also would like to mention that he noted, during a conversation, that Edison was a caring boss as well, not binding his guides when there's no work, being flexible so they can earn their living.) I appreciate people like Edison immensely in this world where everyone (well almost everyone) is only considering their self-interest, or are fake or pushy. I believe such people should be supported wholeheartedly. In short, you can (and should ;) go with Bamboo Ecotours without any reservations. You'll be in safe and caring hands. What's more, you'll be supporting traits that are getting harder and harder to find in our modern wolf-eats-wol

We went with bamboo ecotours because of the reviews and we were not disappointed! First, anytime I emailed Edison any questions ( I had a lot of stupid ones), he answered them very quickly. He assisted us in getting my 14 y/o daughter permission to go. The trekking was tough. Straight uphill in the jungle. You definitely need to be somewhat physically fit to do this. We took a flight from entebbe instead of the long drive. I’m glad we did that too. The gorilla lodge we stayed at was beautiful, clean and very attentive to anything we needed. Our Driver, John, was so knowledgeable about the area, the people, trekking, etc. The only thing which I would say not to do was the cultural visit to the Batwa people. Felt like a tourist trap to me. It is a lot of dirt roads when traveling in Uganda so be prepared. They call it an “African massage”. Overall, would highly recommend trekking with them!!

When we decided we wanted to take a gorilla trekking safari, I talked with a close friend who used Bamboo Ecotours several months earlier. He had nothing but good things to say about the entire experience, thus we decided to use Bamboo when we booked our three day safari. Am I glad we did! We can truthfully say there was not a single negative, or even 'OK' aspect of our trip. Everything was very positive and spectacular from the moment we first researched the different safaris until we were dropped back at our hotel in Kigali at the end of the safari. Bamboo owner Edison was very helpful during the entire process. We had many questions and concerns while deciding which safari to take, what hotel to choose and other questions. Edison always replied swiftly and was very helpful and thorough in explaining everything we needed to know! From the moment our driver, Jackson, picked us up at our hotel until he dropped us off three days later, we were taken on an experience of a lifetime! Jackson is friendly, experienced, and a safe driver. The restaurants chosen for our meals, and our hotel were all first rate. When we arrived at the Bwindi entrance, everything we needed to know was explained to us. We even had some locals entertain us with music and dancing before we ventured out. The hike into the forest to the gorillas is grueling for sure! But once we arrived at our gorilla family, all that effort more than paid off. If you've decided to take a gorilla trekking safari, Bamboo Ecotours will take you there with memories for a lifetime!
