Great Slave Lake is famous among anglers for its excellent trout and pike fishing, with its tributaries known for plenty of Arctic grayling. One species that many anglers may have never heard of but will enjoy catching is the inconnu, a large member of the whitefish family.
Old Town
One of the most diverse, historic, offbeat neighbourhoods in Canada, Old Town is the beating heart of Yellowknife. Here, where the Precambrian Shield blends into Great Slave Lake, gold seekers approximately 80 years ago pioneered what was to become the North's greatest settlement. Yellowknife eventually grew from its ramshackle roots and moved its city centre in the ’60s to what’s still today called “new town,” but the spirit of Old Town never died. Today, the area is an intriguing mash-up of iconoclastic spirit and local heritage. Log cabins stand next to designer mansions and colourful houseboats, artists sell their wares under the shadow of floatplanes soaring across the sky. Stroll down the famous Ragged Ass Road, enjoy some eclectic dining and hike to the top of Pilot’s Monument for the best view in the city.

Today, take a city tour in Yellowknife. You will visit the Great Slave Lake, second largest lake in Canada. The Old Town, the Pilot Monument and the Visitor Centre. Tonight, at around 10 pm, you will continue your Aurora viewing tour.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the aurora's because of cloud coverage, but that is most definitely NOT the company's fault. Living near the Equator, we don't have snow, so it was excellent just to be in the snow. The dog sledding ride was awesome too. The dogs are very well looked after.
