After breakfast, the trip starts with an hour's drive to the Dhampus, a beautiful village in the Annapurna region. First, stop at the checkpoint. The trail then leads to Pothana through green forests. After walking for about 45 minutes, you arrive at Pothana a tiny village where you present your Annapurna Conservation Area Permit. The trail leads up to Deurali – where there is an awesome mountain viewpoint. If you are hungry, you can have lunch here, or you can wait for another couple of hours. The trail then leads into the forest. In March, red rhododendron flowers light up the trail. After walking 2 and a half hours, there are two little tea houses in the middle of the forest where we rest and have lunch or some tea. Enjoy the sound of birds on the trail and, if you’re lucky, sometimes we can see wild animals such as deer, bears, leopards, etc. Finally, after walking about 6 hours from Dhampus, we will arrive at Forest Camp. This is a little town with 7-8 guest houses.
Overnight stay in guest house.
Wake up with birds chirping outside the window and enjoy breakfast with a Himalayan view. Then Day 2 of Mardi Himal Trek starts with a little uphill. Today, the trail goes through rhododendron forests, which are in full bloom in March. Also, we can hear more birds singing their songs throughout the day. After walking for about 3 hours, we will arrive at Low Camp. This is a newly built town, which has a perfect view of Mount Fishtail. Most people take a rest here. After relaxing for a bit and enjoying the view, we head towards High Camp. The trail again leads through a rhododendron forest. Soon, we arrive in Badal Danda, and from there we see an awesome view of the Annapurna range peaks and villages below. We’ve officially crossed the tree line and only alpine shrubbery exists from here on out. We will have our lunch in a hotel with an awesome view of the Annapurna peaks. After lunch, we will continue the trail to High Camp.
Wake up early morning and have a cup of hot tea. We start our hike with warm clothes, a bottle of water, and a headlamp. After walking for about 2 hours from High Camp, we arrive at the Viewpoint, which offers an awesome view of the Annapurna Himalayas and Mt. Fishtail. The sunrise paints the white Himalayas, and it looks awesome. After enjoying the beautiful views, we will continue to Mardi Himal Base Camp for another 2 hours. The stunning view of the Annapurna Himal and Annapurna Base Camp down below is amazing. After enjoying the awesome view from the Mardi Himal Base Camp, we head down to High Camp via the same trail. And we will head down to Sidding via Low Camp. The trail is all downhill, so having your trekking poles handy is highly recommended for this trail. We continue through the rhododendron forest. Sidding is located on the lap of the mountain. It is a small village with the road road leading to Pokhara. After a 2-hour scenic drive, we arrive in Pokhara.
