This was one of the best and most unique experiences I have had travelling. Filadelfia is absolutely beautiful and Santi and his family are incredible. I felt so welcomed and I learned so much about traditional panela farming. The panela process is really interesting and visiting the farm was definitely a highlight of my trip. This was a truly valuable experience I will not forget! Thank you very much Daniel and Santi

It was a great coffee experience! A real opportunity to discover an authentic region of Colombia. You can try every day a new activity with the locals (coffee farm, cooperative, panela, beekeeping…) In addition, the hosts take great care of the visitors. I totally recommend it!

Beautiful experience, truly something authentic is offered, seeing the panela processes was very enriching and educational, the delicious amount of fruits found is part of the path that evolution is taking to return to contact with the earth and to simple of life. The attention of José, Tati (forget his exclusive name hehe) and Daniel was great, I felt at home, very well cared for, the most difficult thing was leaving. Thanks a lot!!!

  • THE BEST COFFEE EXPERIENCE IN COLOMBIA

The best coffee tour in all of Colombia!!! Trust me on this. With ACE, you really get to immerse yourself with the locals in this tour! Not only did they cover coffee, but also panela (brown sugar) and apiculture (bees and honey) AND in addition to that, you get a tour of the small town that all these amazing experiences are based at. They have all kinds of options but I chose the 3 day tour. Every day was something new! My accommodation, food, tour and transportation was covered so I didn’t need to worry about anything. I not only got to learn about the coffee & panela process, I also got to participate and get hands on with everything. In the end I also got my very own roast of coffee and blocks of panela to bring home. Souvenirs that are much better than a key chain haha. And the best part of it all, small, local families benefit through the help of ACE because they connect with so many different family-run farms. If you want a private, non-touristic, & safe coffee experience, definitely book this one! You won’t regret it.

It was a very special and rewarding experience. Having an approach with local families and understanding first-hand what all the processes behind production are like is very nice. It's a great way to raise awareness, while supporting local. Furthermore, Filadeldia is a beautiful little town full of tranquility and beautiful views!

  • Highly informative and educational, great value-for-money, fantastic insight into Colombian coffee culture.

What a fantastic experience! Daniel was prompt and professional in answering all of my questions on Tripadvisor before I made the booking and gave the assurance that I was in safe hands. We were greeted by a kind and generous personality when we arrived and were made to feel at home immediately! The trip was incredibly special and a unique insight into Colombian coffee culture, a truly hands-on experience unlike any other tourist experience I had in Colombia. Daniel isn't just a tour guide, but a coffee professional with specialist knowledge of the region and the processes that go into Colombian coffee harvesting, and shared a tremendous amount of valuable information that can only come from someone who grew up on these lands. We were brought on beautiful hikes across coffee plantations, visited waterfalls, ate delicious Colombian food, and got tremendous access into the lives of Colombian coffee farmers. You will not be a tourist on this trip, but live as the Colombians do and see exactly what life is like in this part of the world; a rare experience for true travellers hungry for the real deal! The trip was filled with activities and well-paced. We were given an educational tour of how Colombian coffee is actually grown, processed and exported to the rest of the world, and had a wonderful hands-on experience on the fields, harvesting beans, tasting fruit straight from the plant, then bringing them back to be dried, packed into bags, then ground into the coffee we consume. Coffee lovers be warned: as you'd expect, this is some of the best coffee you'll taste in your life. Daniel then brought us to see how panela is made, and we got straight into making panela from scratch! Cutting and processing raw sugar cane, boiling it down, placing them into moulds, and eating copious amounts of delicious, fresh panela. I cannot recommend this trip enough and couldn't help but think how family-friendly the whole experience was. Daniel is a fantastic guide, a true Colombian who comes across like an old friend. 10/10!

  • Most authentic and amazing experience of all of Colombia!

We came because Salento/Finlandia was fully booked for the new years vacation, feeling like we were out of luck, and it turned out to be the HIGHLIGHT of our trip. Filadelfia is an amazing, true authentic local village with the happiest and most welcoming people we've met not just in Colombia, but some of the warmest and most passionate people in the world! Here, you can truly learn how coffee is made, and see it go from seed to plant to bean to a cup - something I haven't experienced anywhere else in the world in spite of having visited coffee farms in multiple continents. The beds might not be super comfy, but the experiences will more than make up for it!! Our absolute highlight of the trip!

We were contacted by Daniel a few weeks before the trip and received valuable tips. The stay in Filadelfia was unique. We were looked after very well and our expectations were even exceeded. We learned a lot about coffee cultivation, panela production and the country and its people. Many thanks to Daniel and Ana for their efforts.

During our time in Filadelfia we have had some of the most precious and informative days of our Trip in Colombia. It was a beautiful chance to get to know a little bit of the daily lives of Farmers in the area. We felt Very Welcome and it was a pleasure to meet people in the town. Our days with Fabio at the panela and coffee plantation were wonderful and interesting, he really put a lot of effort into explaining everything and showing us around. Also, he cooked some incredibly delicious food for us. We are Very happy about our experience in Filadelfia.

I went solo for the 5 day experience with very limited spanish (englishman here). Arrived on sunday 5th November 2023 and even extended my stay to cover a whole week. In short, the whole experience was amazing. Jenni and Daniel did anything and everything they could to help and assist along the way. The farms were absolutely authentic and the whole process of making panela and coffee insightful. Id absolutely recomend staying longer to experience more and staying down on the farm aswell (house in the village is your base) to get a full days experience with their families working the farm and production areas. Its alot of hard work to make a full batch of panela! The organic farm with bee hives was like nothing else. The fresh fruit / veg and honey i couldnt compare if i tried. Jennis' parents were so welcoming and hospitable and the village amazing. Be prepared for the freshest and most authentic colombian food made by her mum that since being back in medellin the restaurants dont come close to the flavours i tasted. I was worried at first because it was a bit off the beaten track but i didnt feel unsafe in any way one i was walking around the village. I only got nods, smiles and 'good days!'. This experience will truly last with me for the rest of my life and i really will return there again when i come back to this beautiful country. Arrived sunday, spent a few hours around the town and getting to know the area and settling in to the accomodation. Monday, panela, panela, panela. From squeezing the juices, maintaining the fire, scooping, processing, seperating and moving the panela, forming panela blocks to packaging and wrapping. (With lots of fresh panela to drink in between😋) Tuesday, coffee day harvesting, roasting, grinding planting new trees, drinking fresh coffee and eating some fine home cooked colombian food. Wednesday, This time walking up and down the hill gathering the cane and washing, cleaning and preparing for the next (full) batch of panela. Thursday, the other farm. Fully organic veg / fruit. I accidentally ate a habenero chillie, but washed down with the juiciest tomato ive ever had, (no tomato will compare in my life to that one)!Drinking freshly squeezed milk from the cows and tasting honey straight from the box! Got stung on my ankle then but hey thats the risk! After that i invited Jenni and her parents for a meal / beer and a game of pool at the place just above their farm. Friday, (i should of left today but i extended) Went walking around the village in the day. See the church, shops, market, school and then went back to their farm to help out for tomorrows main production (a normal batch, not a tourist experience day batch!) Saturday, this was 3 times more volume! I think we made just under 500 panela blocks / cakes that day. It was an experience to work a full day alongside the others on a normal production amount they would do! It was a tough time so id recomend it but be prepared for the toughest day of graft you can muster! Sunday was a day of rest... nearly. A bit of cleaning up and packaging / her dad quality checking. After that its getting it all up to town where her dad sells it to the market and a couple of local shops. Ill add in there that there were people taking it off the shelf as it was being put on! The rest of sunday was surreal. The town comes to life on this day. Everyone puts on their sunday best and comes to town to sit, mingle, chat, catch up, drink, go to mass, eat and celebrate! Monday, i was on the bus at 6am that goes straight back to medellin. Getting back at about 11am with a rest stop for breakfast just north of La Pintada. Id recomend staying a couple of extra days to everyone. I saw a parasailing experience when i was there, over the hills and village would of been amazing, if i had time i would of done it. Walk the hills aswell (theyre definitely good exercise) but also have a day of rest aswell because its alot!
