Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your Queen Elizabeth Park Game Safari begins with an early morning start at 6:30 am from your lodging in Kampala or Entebbe, and we drive to Queen Elizabeth Park in Western Uganda. A 6-plus hour drive through the Ugandan countryside. Most enjoy the drive since they view a part of the world that they have never seen before. Your driver guide will tell you about the different cultures and people along the way – be sure to take some pictures of our Ankole Cattle with their large horns. Check into the Bush Lodge. Lunch In the afternoon is the first of your Wildlife Game Drives for you to see the animals and birds of Queen Elizabeth Park. When one says game drive, it is slow in order not to miss anything. A Uganda Wildlife Ranger is on board who knows the animals, birds, reptiles, plants, and trees. From the lovable warthogs with their raised tails to the giant African Elephant, the king of the beasts, the majestic Lion, Leopards, Cape Buffaloes, and Antelopes of various kinds. Dinner

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Breakfast – There is nothing like breakfast while on Wildlife Safari, and there is nothing like the smell of it as you awaken. It is off to a morning game drive catching some nocturnal animals such as lions, as they return from the prowl plus countless Uganda Kob and other antelopes and more. As you drive along, there is nothing like a herd of Elephants moving across the track ahead of you. A pair of lions in the distant savannah grass. Buffaloes grazing in the early morning hour. Birds flying overhead, maybe a rock python here or there. The game track rides last about 2½ to 3 hours, but you won’t even realize the time has gone by. Lunch

Kazinga Channel

3 pm: Time for one of the highlights of your 3-day Queen Elizabeth National Park – the Boat Ride Safari on the famed Kazinga Channel, where you will find many pods of hippos. Kazinga Channel has the highest concentration of hippos in Africa – and you will see hippos, hippos, and even more hippos. Kazinga Channel is not only the place for hippos in Africa – it is the place for birders, as you will see by the hundreds and hundreds of birds on the shore, in the water, and in the air. Birders can easily identify over 40 species while on the boat safari on Kazinga Channel. Hippos – Birds are plenty here, but so are crocodiles, monitor lizards, elephant herds, buffaloes, and antelopes. During the late afternoon, you might see a predator coming to water before going on the night’s hunt. The Kazinga Channel boat – ride is simply a fabulous, slow boat safari with countless opportunities for picture-taking – a most enjoyable two hours plus – enjoy it.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

After the boat safari on Kazinga channel, we continue for a sunset, scenic Katwe explosion crater drive – this is a 27-kilometer journey and takes you to the highest and most scenic part of Queen Elizabeth National Park – there are about 12 explosion craters – some are lakes – others covered with savannah or forest. Wildlife here consists primarily of elephants, buffaloes and antelopes – we have taken you here for the scenic wonders. You can clearly see the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon, the escarpment of the Western Rift below you with views into the mountains of the Congo, Lake Edward, Lake George, Kazinga Channel and the vast savannah – all below you. These explosion craters were even featured in National Geographic recently and the picture attracted much attention. The timing of this drive is after the sun at its brightest and will allow you to take some great photos. Dinner

Kyambura Game Reserve (Kyambura Gorge)

Another fulfilling breakfast and we continue to Kyambura Gorge – that fabulous gash in the savanna – part of the Western or Albertine Rift. The valley that has been called a lost valley by BBC and the Valley of Apes is home to a unique group of Chimpanzees that you will be tracking. The is an orientation, and after the orientation, you are off for Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge – this is about 3 hours in length – you are guided and escorted by Uganda Wildlife Authority Guides, Trackers, and Rangers – the size of your group is relatively small so that is no disturbing the chimpanzees which are habituated meaning that they are used to the presence of humans. Lunch On the return journey, we stop off at the Equator for some picture-taking and arrive in Kampala or Entebbe early evening.
