Stockholm
You either arrive to Stockholm in the morning or you wake up at your hotel for a nice breakfast. At around 9.30 you begin your journey from Stockholm city by car, cab or public transport out to the Kayak Center at Stavsnäs, Värmdö. The bus departs from Slussen bus terminal, takes about 60 minutes and cost about 4 EUR.
Upon arrival at the Stavsnäs Kayak Center you will be welcomed by our certified wilderness and kayak guide who will be preparing you for your self-guided 3-Day Kayak Tour Experience. With a beverage and snack, you sit down together and talk about the kayaks, the camping gear, the suggested route and all the nice places to visit. The guide will also introduce you to kayak safety, how to travel sustainably and take care of nature, wildlife protection, “Dos and Don’ts” as well as other practical matters. The guide will show you how to pack the kayak and get everything ready for departure. There will be plenty of time to ask all your questions. Time for take-off! After eating some lunch, in stable two-person kayaks you will venture out on the water to start your self-guided Kayak Tour Experience. With the wind in your hair, sea birds and waves are soon the only sounds you hear while you make your way towards the smaller uninhabited islands further out. The exploration has begun!
Bullero Nature Reserve
In the afternoon, it is time to start looking for a good place to camp for the night. Using the advice given by your guide before departure, you soon find your own little island with a spot you can call your own for the evening. Perhaps you will end up in the beautiful Bullerö Nature Reserve. After a refreshing swim and preparing the tent, it is dinner time. Cooking the food you have brought is easy on the cooking stove provided, and food taste fantastic when you eat in nature. Let the waves and wind put you to sleep.

Discovery day! After a lazy morning with breakfast and perhaps a morning swim (a “Swedish classic”), you sit and plan the day with the map. There are some different alternatives given by the guide and you can choose to just stay where you are and have a sunny day on the cliffs or pack-up and continue the discovery of new islands along the suggested route. It feels comforting to have a suggested route to follow, yet the freedom to do as you please and go where you want.
Another beautiful morning out on the islands. After yesterday you feel like you start to get the hang of things. Packing the kayaks goes faster than before and you know where you have everything. During the days kayaking, you stop for a long lunch on an island, and for an afternoon swim and a cup of coffee.
In the late afternoon you arrive back at the Kayak Center and is welcomed by your guide. The guide do a de brief with you and take care of all your camping and kayak gear while you can enjoy some snacks, a shower and perhaps a sauna. The body is a bit soar after three days in the kayak, and the heat of the sauna is soothing.
Stockholm
At around 5 pm you make your way back to Stockholm city. We do recommend going out for a well-deserved dinner at a restaurant, a night at a hotel and a day of sightseeing in Stockholm City before travelling back home, making the travel to Stockholm a real Urban-Outdoor combination.

We had a wonderful tour (my husband, our 12 year old son . and myself) and were incredibly impressed with how well organised everything was by getoutkayak. We booked the tour from Germany and all our questions were answered very well by Jakob and Alma in advance by email or telephone. We were even allowed to bring our dog with us (tip: get a life jacket for the dog before the trip). We did an easy and manageable tour totalling 20 km, which even I (50 years old with no kayaking experience) was able to manage. We met up with Alma from getoutkayak at the canoe centre on the free day morning for coffee and biscuits. Every detail was explained to us, from the camping equipment to the food to the toilet bag ;-). Everything was well planned. The food package was also great, every meal was planned and recorded on sealed recipe cards. The food was very, very, very good and there was a lot of it. Swedish kötbuller with gravy, mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam on the first evening at sunset. The camping chairs were also marvellous. All the equipment is of very high quality, absolutely new and clean. The bed mattresses were incredibly comfortable, they are slightly higher and you sleep fantastically on them. The landscape of the Stockholm archipelago is beautiful and highly recommended for a tour. We had previously considered doing a tour of one of the two large lakes in the south-west of Sweden and in retrospect we were glad that we chose the Stockholm archipelago, the landscape is beautiful. It was also great to camp on the rocks.Like Lauren from England, we arrived a little late at the canoe hire on Sunday, but that wasn't a problem either, Alma came to the hire after work and helped us unload our gear in a relaxed manner.I thought it was great that we didn't have to clean the equipment ourselves, but that everything was organised by getoutkayak.Really great, we're looking forward to our next tour. And with the dog (Golden Retriever) everything worked out wonderfully, he was in a triple kayak with my husband and son and I was in a single kayak. Many thanks to Alma and Jakob!

Cannot recommend Get Out Kayak enough! I was a little unsure at first that I’d enjoy a full 3 days out on a kayak, but there was so much to see and do. Between the beautiful camp sites (just beware of mosquitoes) and cool island villages, this was a unique experience. GOK staff are a great resource and helped my friend and I plan the trip, it was apparent that they know the area well. GOK is easily accessed from Stockholm via the bus route 433 or 434. Staff have a wonderful setup with coffee and snacks. Definitely recommend!

We did a 2-day self-guided kayak tour. We asked to start a bit later because we just arrived in Stockholm the night before. This was no problem, the staff was very friendly and helpfull. All the stuff you need is provided and it is very complete, we had everything we needed for an amazing night of camping. All the gear is of great quality and easy to use. Even in summer time, it is not overcrowded and there are so many islands that we had a private island to camp on. The tour is very free and fun and we would recommand it to everyone who is visiting Stockholm!
