Lalibela

Day 1: Fly to Lalibela Take an early morning flight from Addis Ababa to Lalibela (approximately 1 hours), where you will stay for one nights. Despite the town of Lalibela being isolated in the Lasta Mountains at 2,630 metres above sea level, it is still the home of Ethiopia’s top sight, and one of the world’s greatest historical and religious sites. Between 1137 and 1270, several astounding rock-hewn churches were constructed in Lalibela; astonishing because most are not built from carved freestanding rocks, but instead created from huge single blocks of stone unearthed by the digging of enormous pits. You will spend two afternoons exploring the extraordinary churches that look like they’ve been dropped down from the sky. The Northern Group contains seven churches, a tomb, a chapel and a sunken chapel. At the centre of the group is Bet MedhaneAlem, measuring 33.5 metres by 23.5 metres and said to be the largest rock-hewn church in the world.

Asheton Maryam Monastery

Day 2: Hike up to the Asheton Mariam Monastery(the first attempt of king Lalibela church), which offers stunning panoramic views of Lalibela and its surrounding landscape. Afterward, visit the Yimrehane Kirstos Church aboyt 45km from the town of Lalibela , renowned for its unique architectural style and historical significance. This church is famous for its beautifully preserved frescoes and its connection to ancient Ethiopian Christianity, making it a must-see for those interested in Ethiopia's rich cultural and religious heritage.

Lalibela to Addis Ababa Depending on the day, attend early morning church services if it coincides with a Saints Day. After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa
