A trip back in time to the Belo Horizonte of the past.
In a light 3-hour tour, we'll walk through Belo Horizonte's past portrayed by writers such as Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Henriqueta Lisboa, Pedro Nava and Mário de Andrade.
We meet at the Church of Boa Viagem. So, we took a ride on the writings of centenary poets and chroniclers to show the Belo Horizonte lived by them, which today only exists in these records.
We will tell picturesque stories of a BH built on the rubble of a city over 200 years old, which was erased from the map in the name of modernity.
We are going to retrace the steps of important political and artistic personalities of the last century, comparing poetry, short stories, curious stories and historical images with today's scenarios.

Guided tour through literature - and with the participation of a writer from Belo Horizonte
Santuario Nossa Senhora Boa Viagem
We will tell the story of the foundation of Belo Horizonte, in 1701, and why a city in the middle of the hinterland has the protection of the patron saint of sailors and travelers. We will learn about the history of the ancient village of Curral del Rei and a cemetery that has been forgotten by time. Afterwards, we will visit the interior of the temple.
Mineiro Museum
We'll talk about the first streets of Belo Horizonte, the planned capital, and how the current Avenida João Pinheiro was a fundamental part of the city. We will talk about several historic mansions on the avenue and also the lives of writers who passed through Belo Horizonte, such as Fernando Sabino, Carlos Drummond, Aníbal Machado and Afonso Arinos. We will not enter the museum, we will only be in the entrance hall.

Excellent tour, the group was small, so there was room for a lot of interaction with the guide. He has a lot of knowledge about the city, and, on this tour, related to the literature that emerged in Belo Horizonte. The curiosities brought about figures like Drummond give a more relaxed feel to the tour. I recommend it to everyone who likes culture, literature and history. Another issue is that the tour, although it lasts 3 hours, is a light walk, with few climbs.
