The tour leads to the discovery of the four historic districts of the city of Cagliari: Castello, Marina, Villanova and Stampace. Particular attention will be paid to the history of the city, from Roman times to the present day, reconstructed through its monuments, churches, squares, narrow streets and tree-lined avenues, but also through the traces left by the bombings of 1943 which had a considerable weight on the Cagliari we live in today. The city itself tells its own story.

What To Expect
Quartiere Castello
Visit of the neighborhood. In particular we will visit the Pisan and Spanish fortifications, the tower of San Pancrazio and the Elephant (early 14th century, external visit), the Cathedral of Sante Maria e Cecilia (13th-20th century), the basilica and the Bastion of Santa Croce ( 16th century). We will walk together the characteristic narrow streets of the medieval city.
Villanova
Visit of the neighborhood. In particular we will visit the square and the church of San Giacomo (14th century) and the square and the church of San Domenico (15th century). We will walk the streets decorated with flowers, characteristic of the beautiful neighborhood full of religious traditions and rituals.

5.00Guide confirmed date and meeting point 2 days in advance. It was a cold, misty and rainy day in the city. Guide met us on time at the agreed upon meeting point. Guide was very knowledgeable of the history of the city and all the major areas. We stopped at a nice little bar for coffee and croissants. Great resting and warming up place at the top of the city. We saw everything and more that was promised. She suggested a local pizzeria for lunch afterward. A very complete and pleasant trip despite the weather. Perfect guide.

5.00Our guide was amazing! She was very knowledgeable, sweet, and personal. Our ship docked later than our scheduled pre-paid tour, so she graciously arranged to take us on our own tour later that same afternoon! She went above and beyond and she had a great attitude about our situation. She took us to all the major sites and her vast knowledge of the history and the art there was impeccable…she has a Doctorate in art history! Highly recommend!

5.00Valentina is a very knowledgeable, professional, amicable guide. While touring downtown Cagliari, she will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of how Cagliari changed over time. You will appreciate Cagliari's history from the roman period through the Italian unification and the second world war when many historic buildings were unfortunately bombed. Her doctorate in Art History makes her uniquely qualified to point out unique and important features of each historic building. Valentina is also fluent in English, German, and of course Italian. We loved the time spent with her. She will make you fall in love with this beautiful city.

5.00My wife and I had a fabulous private tour with Valentina - she explains the history of Cagliary in detail and has an excellent command of English. She is very friendly, personable with a bubbly personality. She showed us many photos that helped describe the history. Valentina is very considerate - she met us at the port and then walked us back to ensure we do not get lost. She also checked with us a few times suggesting that we rest however we did not need it. We highly recommend this tour with Valentina.
