Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the museum blends fairy tales, literature and poetry, connecting the indoor spaces with the surrounding gardens. With modern interactive installations, lighting, sound and scenography, visitors can explore Andersen’s creative universe and the deeper meaning behind his works.

A large open-air museum showcasing rural life on Funen Island in the 18th–19th centuries. It is not a functioning village; instead, around 30 original buildings from across Funen—farmhouses, workshops, windmills and watermills—were relocated here and reconstructed.

Roskilde

Roskilde is one of Denmark’s oldest cities, famous for its Viking history and the large Roskilde music festival. 1. Roskilde Cathedral: Known for its distinctive Gothic red-brick architecture and as the royal burial church of Denmark. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Since the 15th century, more than 40 Danish kings and queens have been buried here—one site with the largest collection of complete royal tombs in the world. 2. Viking Ship Museum: The main exhibits are five Viking ship remains discovered and salvaged from Roskilde Fjord in 1962. The ships were deliberately sunk about 1,000 years ago to block enemy invasions. Visitors can also watch craftsmen build Viking ship replicas using traditional methods such as axe-hewing oak—showcasing exceptional Viking shipbuilding skills.
