Jinka
Pick you up in Jinka airport up on your arrival. Firs stop is Mursi Tribe in where you will noticed the feature of the Mursi women wearing ornamental clay disks (debhinya) in their bottom lips as symbols of beauty and adulthood. When a girl is in her early teenage years, her bottom lip is cut and kept open with the clay disk until it heals. After it, we will drive back to jinka for lunch. You will then hike to Ari Village for 2 hours back and forth. In almost all villages you’ll meet potters, blacksmiths and women grinding grain to make the Ari version of injera, which uses maize or sorghum instead of tef and has dagussa (‘finger millet’) mixed into it. If you’re lucky someone may invite you to try bunaketele, a delicious drink made from coffee leaves, chillies and several spices including lemongrass. After it, over night in hotel.

Jinka
In the morning after breakfast we will drive to Omorate, the border town with Northwest of Kenya where the unique tribal communities of Dasenech are found. We will cross the Omo River with a local boat made from Fig tree. The Daasanach tribe are found in the most southern part of the Omo Valley and they live at the point where the Omo River delta enters Lake Turkana. They are primarily pastoral people, growing maize, beans and pumpkins at the time of year when the delta floods. During dry seasons they rely on their cattle and goats for milk, meat, and hides. Their homes are dome-shaped, made from branches covered with hides with mats covering the floor. In the afternoon, we will drive to Turmi if there is bull jumping ceremony you will attend that. They perform every 3 days. A deep-rooted traditions, values, and culture - bull jumping is a ceremony performed by the Hamer tribe as a rite of passage for young men. We will then drive to Jinka for over night in your hotel.

Jinka
After breakfast visit jinka museum. Behind glass cases starting with the Karo and the Bodi with the others in the next big room: cow skin skirts and clothing, baskets, weapons, utensils, body decorations, musical instruments, games. Then Mursi women lip disks and ear plates, the small stools / headrests (keri) that Banna and Hamer men carry around. While I recall seeing some of these in the Addis museums, the grouping by people helped with the compare and contrast. Most of all the groups have a pastoralist lifestyle element based on cattle, though many have also been practicing agriculture to supplement. A few groups, such as the Mursi, are still nomadic, moving from one location to another as they feel they need to, but others practice sedentary farming, living in villages with fixed locations, with only the men going out afar to tend their animals, sometimes for weeks at a time. From museum, we will drive to Airport then fly back to Addis.

Excellent Service - I called them on Monday evening(5 days before) to inform about my plan to come to Addis on the same Saturday and wanted to go to Arba Minch,Jinka,Turmi and Omo Valley They were very clear from my first conversation itself & mentioned that it is peak time and getting GOOD hotels would be real difficult. After the conversation I paid them advance and when they searched they confirmed that the hotels are not available as per the selected package, they managed to come out with a good itinerary with high end hotels. Since the final itinerary was not within my budget I had to cancel this and without any hesitation or push they refunded the amount immediately. Throughout my conversation Danakil Depression Team is: 1. Very Professional 2. Highly knowledgeable in this field 3. VERY VERY HONEST & TRANSPARENT Thanks Swan Team again and looking forward to take a trip in your package

We just returned from a 4 day tour of Southern We found our agent online, as we were looking for a customized tour. My family and I have traveled throughout the world, and I can honestly say this was the best, most comprehensive, and luxurious trip we have ever been on! We arrived in Addis and departed 4 days later from Addis's From landing to leaving, we were completely taken care of. Representatives would meet us at the airport, drive us to our hotel, and be certain we were checked into our rooms. A guide would meet us in the Hotel, with a driver in a very nice and clean cars for the tours. It was really flawless. We took trains, planes and automobiles to get to one destination to another, again, everything went well. If your looking for an upscale and an unforgettable experience then this is the travel agent for you.

Danakil Depression orgainsed a short visit to omo valley . It was incredibly well organised, with good clear communication before the trip. There were some security concerns reported shortly before our trip and we were very confident that the local knowledge that Danakil Depression has meant that there was a careful assessment of the problems and good clear advice given. The trip was a delight - and our many encounters with people were of wonderful Ethiopian hospitality, kindness, and generosity that have shaped many years of living in Ethiopia.

Travel creates memories that last a lifetime. In our pursuit of having a memorable experience in Europe, we were ably guided or rather led by team TKI. The passionate team, comprising of Mr. Nasir, Ms. Momita, and Ms. Meenal made the tour very pleasant. I would like to thank the team for making such a well-planned itinerary that made us cover so many places in such a short period of time. We visited a variety of places, ranging from cultural monuments like in and Leaning omo valley tribes to wonderful tours hamer tribe bull jumping etc. Yet another highlight of the tour was our stay in arba minch, at haile resort where one could experience snow just a few feet outside the room. Nevertheless, the major attraction was konso which was an experience of a lifetime. However, none of these things would have been possible without one person, our Tour Manager, Mr. Mickey. A personal thank you to Mr. Mickey for making our visit to all these diverse places even more interesting and memorable by enlightening us about them in the most passionate way. We were lucky to have such an informative and energetic person like him as out Tour Manager and without him this tour would have definitely not been the same. Keeping in mind the experience of this tour and such remarkable tour leaders I wouldn’t hesitate to connect with Danakil Depression Tours for another tour in the near future.

danakil depression tours were incredible at every point. We had a custom itinerary and they were very flexible before we travelled to ensure we got to do what we wanted. The flexibility didn't stop there as every guide arranged by mickey were equally as flexible, helping us fit in things not on the itinerary. We visited arba minch, jinka, turmi across 4 days. We had arranged guides in some places but in others our driver helped us find trusted registered local guides. Our driver gech was just as amazing as the rest of the trip really helping us out at every point he could. He was flexible on timings every day, gave us good advice, took us to great places for lunch on those long drives and was an excellent driver. We couldn't have asked for more from this company and would use them again in a heart beat. They're helpful, flexible, knowledgeable and above all else reasonably priced! Thanks again everyone that helped us at danakil depression tours Jamie and Jaipal
